Maximum Class Size. 7.5.1 Maximum class size shall be as specified in Appendix E, attached hereto. Class size maximums (Appendix E) shall be adjusted by mutual agreement between each college president and UF vice-president and shall be revenue neutral at each college. 7.5.2 Maximum class size for any new course shall be determined by management after consultation with the appropriate department prior to submission of the proposed course to the college’s Instructional/Curriculum Committee. Management shall make the decision on the maximum class size within thirty (30) calendar days following the consultation with the department. 7.5.3 One-semester adjustments in maximum class size may be made only during registration with the consent of the unit member involved or the department chairper- son/designee. In the event that neither the unit member involved nor the department chairperson/designee is available during the registration period, management shall make the adjustment and notify the United Faculty within 24 hours. 7.5.4 If class enrollment is within five (5) students of the class maximum after the first class meeting, only the instructor may add students to the class. The instructor must accept additional students up to the posted class maximum through the add period. This section shall not prohibit faculty from accepting students above the class maximum at their discretion.

By August 26 of each year, no regular classroom teacher in an elementary school or K-8 school shall be assigned more than the number of students for each grade listed except as provided in 22-2-B and 22-8 below: B. Class size maximums in an elementary school may be exceeded by up to four (4) students when there is no additional classroom space in the school, or if all classes at a grade level are at maximum and no reasonable combination class can be formed, and exceeding the class size limit will eliminate the need to hire an additional teacher. Assignment of students that exceed the class size maximum shall be made by the principal after consideration of volunteers.
Maximum Class Size. 10.12.1 The maximum class size for each course shall be as designated in the most recent version of the Master Course File or as changed subsequently by Curriculum Committee action. 10.12.2 The maximum class sizes as listed in the most recent version of the Master Course File may be changed only by the Curriculum Committee and are applicable to both day and evening sections of the course. Copies of all changes in maximum class size and the class maximum for all new classes shall be provided to LBCCFA by means of the agenda and minutes of the Curriculum Committee for the purposes of updating the Master Course File. 10.12.3 In any given semester, the appropriate area xxxx, or department head with the approval of the area xxxx, may increase, within the electronic schedule file, the maximum class size (enrollment limit) for any or all sections of a course temporarily by up to ten percent (10%). This increase cannot be made for more than three (3) consecutive semesters. The ten percent (10%) factor is to be temporary and is not intended to permit any permanent, across-the-board increase; it is, instead, intended to permit temporary increases in individual class sizes to meet student demand in that particular semester. The faculty member must be notified of the increase on the date of the increase. Increases beyond ten percent (10%) shall not be imposed without the consent of the faculty member as provided in Section 10.14 of this Article. 10.12.4 In order to control maximum class size after a class has been closed during late registration, the faculty member teaching the class may direct their department head or area xxxx to lower the enrollment allowance by a sufficient amount to ensure that the class will not reopen as students withdraw. In this manner, the class would not reopen until enough students have withdrawn to reach the newly established enrollment allowance.

Maximum Class Size. 11.1.1 The maximum class size for any course of instruction shall be established through the regular campus curriculum process. 11.1.2 Maximum class size as established through the campus curriculum process shall not be changed except by the following procedures: 11.1.2.1 Any Unit Member or Management Supervisor may request that a maximum class size be changed. 11.1.2.2 Such request must be submitted to the Campus Curriculum Committee. 11.1.2.3 Within a reasonable time period, the Campus Curriculum Committee will make a recommendation on this request to the President/Xxxxxxx or designee. 11.1.2.4 Within twenty (20) duty days, the President/Xxxxxxx or designee shall act on the recommendation. In acting on such recommendation, the President/Xxxxxxx or designee shall normally rely primarily upon the advice and judgment of the Campus Curriculum Committee. 11.1.2.5 If the President/Xxxxxxx or designee’s recommendation differs from the recommendation of the Committee, the President/Xxxxxxx or designee will indicate in writing the reasons for differing from the Committee’s recommendation. 11.1.3 A Unit Member shall not be required to enroll students in any course of instruction beyond the established class maximum.

Maximum Class Size. 6.2.A. Faculty members may not enroll students beyond the capacity assigned by management without the advance approval of the Xxxx. 6.2.B. The maximum class size for classes designed for students with disabilities shall be 20 or shall meet existing laws and regulations. 6.2.C. The maximum class size for English composition classes shall be 27. 6.2.D. Where state or federal law limits class size, or limitations on class size are required for compliance with an external accrediting agency (e.g., Nursing), class sizes shall be capped at the number specified by law or accrediting agency. 6.2.E. Maximum enrollment capacities for all class sections shall be documented in the Class Schedule.

Maximum Class Size. The maximum class size for each course in the District shall be as indicated on the attached lists of courses from Foothill and De Anza. The parties agree that students in basic skills classes in Math, English, and ESL benefit from a smaller class size. Thus, to address the long-standing differences in maximum class size between the campuses, the parties agree that at both campuses: • Basic Skills Math classes shall have a maximum class size of 35, • Transfer level Math classes shall have a maximum class size of 40, • Basic Skills English and ESL classes shall have a maximum class size of 25, and, • Transfer level English and ESL classes shall have a maximum class size of 30 These maximum class sizes are reflected on the attached lists. The maximum class size indicated on the attached lists shall be the class size entered in the registration system, unless: (1) a course is scheduled in a classroom with a capacity smaller than the maximum class size. In such a case, the division xxxx shall lower the maximum class size in the scheduling system to the capacity of the room. Any such decrease shall not be precedent setting and the course shall return to the established maximum class size at the conclusion of the assignment; or (2) In accordance with Article 34.3, a faculty member assigned a distance learning (online) course requests that the maximum class size be increased for his or her section, in order to facilitate enrollment and/or offset attrition. In such a case, the division xxxx shall increase the maximum class size in the scheduling system to the number requested by the faculty member. Any such increase shall not be precedent setting and the course shall return to the established maximum class size at the conclusion of the assignment. Any future change to the attached lists shall be subject to negotiations between the District and FA During the 2015-16 academic year, the parties agree to review the maximum class size in Creative Arts at De Anza and Fine Arts at Foothill to better understand facilities and safety issues related to maximum class sizes in these areas.
