Closures. The HUB Child Care Centres observe all Ontario Public Holiday’s under the Employment Standards Act, 2020. The HUB takes part in board approved professional development and team building days of which ample notice is given. Christmas Holiday closures will be given with appropriate notice. The HUB Child Care Centres observe the following stat days: New Year’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday (Professional Development day), Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas & Boxing Day. Caregivers, as they are self-employed, may use their discretion regarding providing care on these days. If care is needed by parents for the “stat”, the parent must negotiate their need with their caregiver two weeks in advance. Inclement Weather When school buses in Xxxxxx Xxxxxx County are cancelled HUB Child Care Centres operate. When schools in Xxxxxx Xxxxxx County are closed HUB programs will not operate, excluding The HUB Child Care Program. Caregivers have a choice to close their business and will communicate with parents as far in advance as possible their decision. Parents are not required to pay for days that their location is closed. Sick Children The Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 (CCEYA) and the Public Health Department require that you submit an up-to-date immunization record for all children who have not yet entered the school system. Please do not bring your child to the caregiver’s home if they are ill. To protect all children in care, your caregiver cannot accept a child with symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or an undiagnosed rash. You may need to schedule a medical appointment to identify if and when your child is able to attend. If you do not agree with the caregiver, please contact the Home Child Care (HCC) Manager/Visitor. If a child becomes ill during the day, the caregiver will isolate the child away from others and provide temporary care until the parent arrives to take the child home. Please ensure that emergency contact information and numbers are kept current. Symptoms and significant signs of illness must be reported immediately to the caregiver. Children must be free of nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea for 48 hour consecutive hours and free of symptoms with high fever for 24 consecutive hours as a result of illness before returning to the caregiver’s home. Parents are responsible to pay for days a child is absent due to illness, vacation or withdrawal when this notice has not been given. Subsidized parents who use sick days/vacation or absent days more than their subsidy allows, will be subject to full fee payment.

The HUB takes part in board approved Mountain View Preschool will close for 2 professional development and team building days of which ample notice is givenwithin the fiscal year. Christmas Holiday closures These dates will be given with appropriate notice. Inclement Weather When SUBSTITUTE CAREGIVER The preschool agrees to inform parents of any substitute caregivers in the program. If adequate supervision is unavailable, classes will be cancelled and parents will be credited for days missed or days will be added on at the end of the school buses year. DROP-OFF / PICK-UP Parents/Guardians agree to drop-off and pick-up their children from the preschool at the scheduled times. Please ensure these times are adhered to, as it will provide consistency with your child’s routines as well as respect for the instructors’ schedules. Children will only be released to their parent/guardian unless the preschool has written permission to let the child go home with someone else. NO CHILD will be allowed to leave with another person, even a relative or babysitter, unless the preschool has written permission, or that person is listed on the child’s emergency card in Xxxxxx Xxxxxx County our files. Therefore it is imperative that this information is kept up to date. While it is recognized that problems arise occasionally that may prevent a parent/guardian for being on time, it is important to understand that late pick-ups are closed HUB programs an inconvenience to preschool staff. Please do note that field trip times may not bring your coincide with normally scheduled drop-off / pick-up times, and on occasion morning and afternoon classes may be combined for fieldtrips.Parent/guardian involvement in caring for children’s safety during field trips is greatly appreciated. PHOTOS Parent agrees for their child photo to be taken for use in preschool activities only. INTOXICATED PARENT/GUARDIAN If a person picking up a child from preschool shows signs of intoxication, the caregiver’s preschool will phone for an alternate ride home. If we have to call a taxi it will be by the expense of the parent/guardian. No child will leave preschool with an intoxicated driver. PREVENTATIVE HEALTH MEASURES In order to prevent illness & promote safe routines within the preschool, staff take the following precautionary health measures: ✓ sterilization of toys, equipment & furniture ✓ promoting and following proper hand washing techniques ✓ maintaining all equipment to safety standards ✓ performing monthly fire drills ✓ maintaining updated first aid & criminal record checks ILLNESS & CONTAGIOUS DISEASE Children should be kept home if they are ill. HEAD LICE A child who has head lice may not return to preschool until the lice have been givenkilled and all eggs or nits have been removed by picking and combing. Subsidized parents who use sick days/vacation REPORTING SUSPECTED OR DISCLOSED CHILD ABUSE As citizens of British Columbia we are all required by law to report by telephone to the Ministry of Social Services any situations which cause us to suspect that a child is abused or absent days more than their subsidy allowsneglected to the point that his or her safety or well-being is endangered.
