Commencement of Adoption Leave. An eligible employee can commence adoption leave from the day of placement of the child. The period of paid adoption leave must conclude within 12 months of the day of placement except under exceptional circumstances as provided under subclause 6.15.6(f) - Maternity Leave of this Agreement but as it relates to adoption leave.

  • Adoption Leave (a) The employee will notify the employer at least ten weeks in advance of the date of commencement of adoption leave and the period of leave to be taken. An employee may commence adoption leave prior to providing such notice, where through circumstances beyond the control of the employee, the adoption of a child takes place earlier.

  • Commencement of Leave Parental leave must commence no later than the first anniversary date of the birth or adoption of the child or of the date on which the child comes into the actual care and custody of the employee. The employee will decide when his or her parental leave is to commence.
