Common use of Commitments to Training Clause in Contracts

Commitments to Training. The parties recognise that in order to increase the safety, efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the Employer a commitment to training and skill development is required. Accordingly, the parties commit themselves to; 9.1.1 Developing a more highly skilled and flexible workforce. 9.1.2 Providing all employees with career opportunities through appropriate training to acquire the additional skills as required. 9.1.3 A training program being developed for each employee consistent with: (a) The current future skill needs of the Employer and the employee along with the size, structure and nature of the Employer. (b) The need to develop vocational skills relevant to the Employer, the Employee and the Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Industry. (c) Developing a more healthy and safe working environment in particular by ensuring that appropriate numbers of employees receive appropriate training in first aid, code of practice for safe electrical work and construction wiring. 9.1.4 Where a disagreement arises between the Employer and one or more of its employees in respect to reclassification, the Employer and the employee or employee’s representative shall meet to resolve the issue. If this does not resolve the issue to the satisfaction of the parties, the matter shall be referred to the relevant Industry Training Board (EPIC) or other agreed organisation to perform an audit and determine the matter. 9.1.5 All cost associated with training including meals, accommodation and course fees will be paid by the Employer.
