Meal Breaks. The timing of meal breaks on any particular job may be discussed between the Employer and the majority of employees at a particular site and varied by agreement. Occupational health and safety considerations will always prevail.

Meal Breaks. 50.1 An Employee will not be required to work more than 5 hours continuously without a meal interval of not less than 30 minutes and not more than 60 minutes. 50.2 Meal breaks will not be regarded as time worked. 50.3 Employees who are called back to work from their rostered meal break will be granted a meal break of not less than 20 minutes during the remainder of their shift. Such meal break will be counted as time worked.

Meal Breaks. Employees working a shift of more than five (5) hours shall be entitled to a meal break. The employer shall schedule a meal break as close as possible to the mid-point of an employee’s shift. The duration of the meal break may vary but shall not be less than one- half (1/2) hour duration.
Meal Breaks. (a) An employee who works in excess of five hours will be entitled to an unpaid meal break of not less than 30 minutes and not more than 60 minutes. (b) Where an employee is required to remain available for duty during a meal break, the employee will be paid an ‘on call during meal break allowance’ as provided for in Item 41 in Table 2, provided such that only one allowance shall be payable in any period of 24 hours. If an employee is recalled to work during the meal break, then overtime will be paid for all time worked during such meal break. (c) Where a home care employee is required by the employer to have a meal with a client or clients as part of the normal work routine or client program, they will be paid for the duration of the meal period at the ordinary rate of pay and Clause 36.1(a) does not apply.
