Common use of COMPASSIONATE OR SPECIAL LEAVE Clause in Contracts

COMPASSIONATE OR SPECIAL LEAVE. I In the event of the death of a member's wife, husband or child, (including a stillbirth), compassionate leave with pay not exceeding (32 hours) shall be granted by the Chief to the member. In the event of the death of a member's father, mother, step-father, step-mother, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchild and grandparents of either the member or the member's spouse compassionate leave with pay not exceeding (24 hours) shall be granted by the Chief of Police to the member. The compassionate leave granted may include a member's days off which have been posted in accordance with Section Posted days off are not to be altered to form part of the compassionate leave unless the member so consents. Any further Compassionate leave may only be granted upon the authority ofthe Board and upon such terms as the Board deems advisable. The parties agree that the Association has the right to represent its members and in the interests of good labour relations agree as follows:
