Consecutive Absences without Notice: Resignation. An employee who is absent from work without notice for three consecutive days will be considered to have resigned, whether or not that was the employee’s intent. (If the employee returns to work after the third day and explains why he or she could not give notice and no third party could give notice, the assumption of resignation is rebuttable.) If the employee is incapable of providing notice, notice may be provided by a third party.
