Conversion of Sick Leave to Deferred Compensation. Employees may choose to contribute part of their accumulated sick leave to deferred compensation. Per IRS regulations, converted sick leave may only be used to fund “catch up” contributions to deferred compensation, therefore, an employee must first contribute the maximum to their respective deferred compensation account before they are permitted to use their sick leave to make “catch up” contributions.
