Creditable Years of Service. A creditable year of service is defined as twelve consecutive months of full-time employment beginning the first of the month following the employee’s date of hire in a regular, full-time position. An employee returning from an approved leave of absence shall receive credit toward vacation increments for years of employment prior to the leave. An employee who terminates employment for any reason except due to a reduction in force or due to the expiration of a temporary contract and is subsequently reemployed will be considered a new employee and will not be given credit for prior years of service in calculating vacation eligibility. An employee must be reemployed within two (2) years of a reduction in force or expiration of a temporary contract in order to qualify for prior years of service credit in calculating vacation eligibility. Eligible employees shall be entitled to annual vacation with pay according to the following schedule: Employees will start earning 120 hours of annual paid vacation during their fourth year of creditable service and 160 hours during their seventh year of creditable service.
