Critical Illness. Critical illness is defined as an illness where death is impending, but recovery is possible. Teachers, including those assigned as long-call reserves, may be granted a leave of absence for up to five (5) days in the event of the critical illness of the teacher's mother, father, sister, brother, children, spouse, significant other, parents of spouse, or parents of significant other and anyone who has the position of parent or child, or any person who has been a member of the teacher's household immediately prior to the critical illness. Such leaves shall not exceed fifteen (15) days in a single contract period. Documentation may be requested.
