Common use of Death in the Immediate and Nuclear Families Clause in Contracts

Death in the Immediate and Nuclear Families. The teacher will be granted up to three (3) days with pay, not chargeable to sick leave, per death, in the immediate family. Immediate family shall be defined as mother, father, brother, sister, grandchildren, father and mother-in-law, brother and sister-in law, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and grandparents. The teacher will be granted up to five (5) days with pay, not chargeable to sick leave per death in their nuclear family. Nuclear family is defined as partner, husband, wife, and children. Additional bereavement days shall be charged to the employee’s sick leave day bank.
