Deputy Sheriffs. Nothing in such sections shall be construed as precluding the appointing authority from filling any positions in the unclassified service in the manner in which positions in the classified service are filled.
Deputy Sheriffs certified by the Sheriff as being engaged in criminal duty, who entered the Retirement System before July 1, 1976, will be covered under Section 89b(m) of the Retirement Law, as provided by Resolution of the Board of Representatives on and reopened by Resolution of the Board of Representatives on June 26, 1990 to be effective July 2, 1990.
Deputy Sheriffs. A. Effective January 1, 1998, there shall be one salary schedule for all deputy sheriffs regardless of the date they are employed. B. The schedule referred to in paragraph “a” shall consist of (1) A Training Step which shall be $2,000 less than the entry step. Individuals who have not previously successfully completed the mandated training for a police officer or deputy sheriff shall be employed at the Training Step and shall remain at the Training Step until the first pay period following the successful completion of such training. (2) Entry Step: the salary which a deputy sheriff will receive once he/she has successfully completed the mandated training. (3) Full Performance Step: An employee will be eligible to move from the Entry Step to the Full Performance Step on January 1 following the date they have served on the Entry Step for at least one year. However, except as hereafter provided, individuals will only move from the Entry Step to the Full Performance Step upon the recommendation of the Sheriff. (4) Employees will automatically move from the Entry Step to the Full Performance Step on January 1 following the date they have completed two years of service on the Entry Step regardless of whether or not the Sheriff recommends such move. (5) Employees will automatically move from the Full Performance Step to Steps 3, 4, and 5 annually on January 1.
Deputy SheriffsWith regard to Deputy Sheriffs, per Iowa Code 341A.11, if the employee has successfully completed training at the Iowa law enforcement academy or a regional training facility certified by the director of the Iowa law enforcement academy prior to initial appointment as a deputy sheriff, the probationary period shall be for a period of up to nine months and shall commence with the date of initial appointment as a deputy sheriff. If the employee has not successfully completed training at the Iowa law enforcement academy or a regional training facility certified by the director of the Iowa law enforcement academy prior to initial appointment as a deputy sheriff, the probationary period shall commence with the date of initial employment as a deputy sheriff and shall continue for a period of up to nine months following the date of successful completion of training at the Iowa law enforcement academy or a regional training facility certified by the director of the Iowa law enforcement academy
Deputy Sheriffs. COUNTY through SHERIFF shall provide community services via the Deputy Sheriff. To the extent such staff is provided within DISTRICT, their services, together with all normal ancillary services related thereto, shall: • Provide enforcement of the California Penal Code, the California Vehicle Code, and pertinent regulatory ordinances as adopted by the DISTRICT, • Accident investigations, • Analysis of traffic related problems of DISTRICT, and cooperate with various DISTRICT departments to obtain solutions to the traffic problems of DISTRICT, • Meet regularly with DISTRICT senior management to discuss any contract issuesParticipate in DISTRCT meetings and activities as determined appropriate by the DISTRICT and the SHERIFF
