Description of test. 7.4.2.1.1. Principle The rotation-inducing forces caused by projections on the helmets and friction against the outer surface of the helmets are assessed firstly by a shear impact on the projections using a shear edge against which the projections shall shear away, be detached, or permit the shear edge to slide past the projections. The friction is assessed by the displacement of a carriage abrading the outer surface of the helmet. The shear impact and abrading carriage displacement are generated by a drop weight device.
