Disability Retirement - Alternative Placement Incentive. When an employee is unable to perform the essential functions of their position in their present or a comparable position within their department due to medical reasons, the County may offer at its option, an alternative placement incentive. This incentive is offered in lieu of service connected disability retirement. Voluntary alternative placement in a position within the County government will include a 5 percent increase in the employee’s salary provided it does not exceed the maximum salary of the pay grade assigned the position. The decision as to whether to accept placement under these circumstances shall be made by the employee. Any employee accepting the alternative placement under the above conditions waives any right to apply for service connected disability retirement provided under Section 33-43A of the Xxxxxxxxxx County Code, based upon the medical condition that caused the alternative placement.
