Disability Separation. A disability separation may, at the discretion of the Employer, be granted when an employee has exhausted his accumulated paid leave and disability leave without pay, where applicable, and is: 1. hospitalized or institutionalized, or on a period of convalescence following hospitalization or institutionalization as authorized by a physician at the hospital or institution; or 2. is declared physically incapable of performing the duties of his position by a licensed physician. If an examination is requested or required by the Employer, the Employer shall designate the physician and shall bear the costs of such examination. Any appointment made to a position vacated by disability separation will be of a temporary nature.

1. hospitalized Hospitalized or institutionalized, or on a period of convalescence following hospitalization or institutionalization as authorized by a physician at the hospital or institution; or,
2. is Is declared physically incapable of performing the duties of his position by a licensed physician. If an examination is requested or required by the Employer, the Employer shall designate the physician and shall bear the costs cost of such examination. Any appointment made to a position vacated by disability separation will be of made on a temporary basis, and such employee will be made fully aware of its temporary nature. Should the employee returning from disability separation be reinstated to another position, the temporary appointment will be made permanent.
