Common use of Dues and Assessments Clause in Contracts

Dues and Assessments. (a) The Employer shall deduct from the wages of each employee in the bargaining unit an amount equal to the regular dues payable to the Union by a member of the Union. Each employee shall provide, as a condition of continued employment, the Employer with a written authorization to make such deductions and such deductions shall be subject to the Labour Relations Code of British Columbia. (b) The Employer shall deduct from each employee that is a member of the Union, any assessments levied in accordance with the Union Constitution and/or Bylaws and owing by the employee to the Union and remit such money to the Union. (c) Deductions shall be a percentage of gross earnings as indicated by the Union and deducted from each employee's biweekly paycheque. (d) The Union shall advise the Employer in writing, of the amount of its regularly monthly dues rate. The amount so advised shall continue to be the amount to be deducted until changed by written notice to the Employer signed by the President of the Union. Upon receipt of such notice the changed amount shall be the amount deducted.
