Duration of the present Agreement. This Agreement is concluded for a period of three years. OGB-L LCGB UEL APPENDIX V Agreement of 25 June 2009 on harassment and violence at work AGREEMENT ON HARASSMENT AND VIOLENCE AT WORK Whereas first the social partners enjoying interprofessional representativeness at European level, in this case BusinessEurope, UEAPME, CEEP and ETUC, have signed on the basis of Article 139 of the Treaty on the European Union an autonomous Framework Agreement on harassment and violence at work dated 26 April 2007; whereas the signatory organisations have undertaken to implement this Agreement in accordance with the procedures and practices of the social partners in the Member States and in the countries of the European Economic Area (within three years of its signature); whereas next the social partners consider that harassment and violence are unacceptable behaviour by one or more people and can take many different forms, some of which are more easily identifiable than others; that such acts have the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of workers, affecting their health and/or creating a hostile working environment; whereas different forms of harassment and violence can affect workplaces; whereas finally the aim of the European Framework Agreement is to raise awareness and better explain to employers, workers and their representatives what harassment and violence in the workplace are, to provide employers, workers and their representatives at all levels a pragmatic framework for identifying, preventing and managing problems of harassment and violence at work; it is therefore important for the signatory parties to transpose this objective at national level; whereas this transposition in no way prejudices the signing of sectoral agreements and/or the conclusion of more specific agreements within companies with the aim of preventing such behaviour and better assisting the victims of such acts; the signatory parties have concluded this Agreement:
