Working EnvironmentThe parties agree that a safe and clean working environment is essential in order to carry out work assignments in a satisfactory manner. The Employer commits to investigate the use of environmentally friendly products. It will be the Employer's responsibility to ensure that all working areas and employer-owned vehicles are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
Working Environment. 11.1 Academic staff members shall not be put under surveillance without being notified, except when a temporary camera installation is required specifically to capture inappropriate and/or unlawful behaviour arising from a history of such behaviour at that site, or situations of danger and threats to the University community. This includes non-electronic surveillance, electronic eavesdropping or video cameras, and any kind of computer surveillance or other devices. Before posted surveillance devices are installed, the University will notify the Faculty Association of their location. The parties recognize that the safety of employees, staff, students and the general public may require the installation of video cameras, audio recorders or other monitoring devices in public access areas of the campus such as parking lots, walkways, building entrances, exits and hallways. Notice of the presence of video surveillance systems will be posted in accordance with University policy. The parties agree that academic staff members have the right to privacy in the contents of their personal and professional communications, and in the contents of the files members maintain, whether these communications and files are on paper or in electronic form. The parties shall undertake to respect that right to the extent reasonably possible, subject to applicable legislation. However, this clause in no way limits the right the University has to use material contained in the official file, including communications to, from and concerning members. The University shall release personal information from an academic staff member’s files to a third party only as required for legitimate administrative needs, as provided by law, as permitted by this Agreement, or with the prior consent of the member. 11.2 So that academic staff members can effectively carry out their duties, the University shall maintain facilities and a reasonable level of services appropriate to the institution’s teaching, research, and related activities. Such facilities and services include, but are not limited to: - library resources; - office facilities, including computers, university-licensed office software, access to the Internet and email, and technical support; - secretarial services; - printing services; - teaching and research assistance (where appropriate); - laboratory space and equipment (where appropriate); - telephone services, including voice-mail (or other messaging service);

In circumstances where there may be a shortage of office space, a Member may be required to share an office with another Member or Contract Academic Staff member under the following conditions: (a) a Member with a Provisional or Candidacy Appointment shall be entitled to an office for his/her exclusive use and shall not be obligated to share an office under this clause; (b) The designation of which Members shall share an office under the provisions of this article shall be made by the Xxxx or his/her designate after consultation with the department chair(s) or equivalent; (c) The designation of which Members shall be obligated to share an office shall be in the following order: (i) Members who consent to share an office; (ii) Members on sabbatical leave who shall be away from the University for six months or more; (iii) Members on other leaves of six months or more in duration; (iv) Members on Limited Term Appointments; (d) within each contract year such sharing of an office shall be for a specified limited period of time for up to 12 months; the Xxxx shall review the sharing of offices annually and each year the designation of which Members shall share offices shall be in accordance with (c) above; (e) a Member sharing an office shall be entitled to the exclusive use of a desk, computer and telephone; (f) the Members sharing an office shall establish a schedule for each Member’s exclusive use of the office for student consultations; (g) Members who are not on leave and who share an office shall have access to an additional fund of $1,000 under the Professional Expense Reimbursement in 38.2.1; where sharing of an office is for less than 12 months, these funds shall be pro-rated for the period of time the Member shares an office; (h) Members who are designated to share an office under (c) above shall r...

The University and the BGSU-FA recognize that an adequate working environment and supporting services are necessary for effective teaching/librarian effectiveness, learning, scholarly/creative activity, and service, consistent with the University’s mission. Therefore, within the limits of available space and resources, the University shall make a good faith and reasonable effort, in a timely fashion, to provide each Bargaining Unit Faculty Member the following:

The Employer will provide health and safety orientation before a new or young worker carries out their first shift. The Employer will provide health and safety orientation or in-service which is necessary for safe techniques for lifting and supporting clients/residents, the safe performance of work, the safe use of equipment, and the safe handling of materials and products. The Employer will also make readily available information, manuals and procedures for these purposes.
Working Environment. Contingent upon budget and fiscal limitations as determined by the Board of Trustees, facilities and equipment currently made available to faculty members in order that the person’s teaching, counseling, coaching, librarian, or media specialist function may be best carried out, shall be continued.
