Dynamic IP addresses Clause Samples
The 'Dynamic IP addresses' clause defines how internet protocol (IP) addresses that are assigned dynamically, rather than being fixed, are treated within the context of the agreement. This clause typically clarifies whether dynamic IP addresses are considered personal data, how they may be logged or processed, and under what circumstances they may be linked to individual users. For example, it may specify that dynamic IP addresses collected during service use are only retained for security or troubleshooting purposes. Dynamic IP addresses. (a) Unless your Internet Service specifies that we shall provide you with a static (ie non-changing) IP address, we may provide it using dynamic IP addresses (that change periodically).
(b) The periodic changing of dynamic IP addresses is normal network behaviour and not a fault.
(c) It may be difficult or impossible to operate an Internet server (e.g. a mail server or a web server) using an Internet Service with a dynamic IP address. If you intend to operate such a server you should use an Internet Service with a static IP address.
