Common use of Educational Lane Clause in Contracts

Educational Lane. Newly hired teachers will be placed on an educational lane based on the highest degree obtained plus such credits that were earned beyond that degree which are at least generally applicable to the teaching position for which the teacher was hired, but which are not determined by the Office of Public Instruction to be “educational” prerequisites necessary for earning an initial teaching license. Beginning with teachers new to the District for the 1991-1992 school year, credits to be counted toward initial placement on the salary schedule must have been taken within the last ten years (this will not apply when determining the highest degree attained).
