Common use of ELIGIBILITY and COVERAGE Clause in Contracts

ELIGIBILITY and COVERAGE. a) Permanent and long-term assignment employees shall be eligible for benefits consistent with eligibility requirements as set out by the Trust. The OSSTF ELHT shall maintain eligibility for OSSTF represented education workers who have benefits. Education Workers who were eligible for benefits in the ELHT as of Aug 31, 2019 shall maintain their eligibility. Daily and casual employees are not eligible, nor are other employees who do not meet the Trust’s eligibility criteria. b) With the consent of the central parties, the OSSTF ELHT is also permitted to provide coverage to other active employee groups in the education sector with the consent of their bargaining agents and employer or, for non-union groups, in accordance with an agreement between the Trustees and the applicable board. c) Retirees who were previously represented by OSSTF/FEESO-Education Workers (EW), who were, and still are members of a board benefit plan as at the Participation Date are eligible to receive benefits through the OSSTF ELHT with funding based on prior arrangements. d) No individuals who retire after the Participation Date are eligible.
