Eligibility for Leaves. 1. Leave days earned/granted shall be in proportion to the employee’s assigned work hours. 2. The District does not grant short term (ten [10] work days or less) voluntary days off without pay except in unusual circumstances. Requests for long term (more than ten [10] work days) leaves of absence in accordance with Sections C, D and M of this article must be submitted in writing to Human Resources and be approved before any leave of absence begins except when the need for leave could not be anticipated. In such situations, the request for leave shall be made as soon as possible. 3. Long Term Leave Without Pay (not for health reasons) covered under Section M of this article will not be granted for employees whose performance has been evaluated unsatisfactory and/or placed on probation prior to leave, or employees currently subject to disciplinary action.
