Employees - Basic Eligibility. Employees may participate in the Group Insurance Program if they are scheduled to work at least 1044 hours in any twelve consecutive months, except for: (1) emergency, or temporary, or intermittent employees; (2) student workers; and (3) interns. An employee who is employed on the basis of an academic year and whose employment contemplates absences from the State payroll during the summer months and during break periods occurring at Christmas, New Year’s and Easter, shall continue to be eligible for benefits provided he/she appears on the regular payroll for at least one working day for the payroll period immediately preceding such break periods.
