Common use of Employer Initiated In-Service and Training Clause in Contracts

Employer Initiated In-Service and Training. ‌ It is recognized that in-service education may be necessary to meet the ever-changing goals and clientele of the institutions. Consequently, teachers who may be required by the Appointing Authority to participate in in-service programs and who are released from their work assignments to attend special training courses shall lose no basic straight-time pay for such normal work hours and shall be allowed compensatory time-off for such time accrued beyond the eight (8) hour day spent in actual participation in such programs. Actual participation includes reasonable and necessary travel time, if any, between the location of the teacher’s work assignment and the location of the in-service program. Expenses incurred by the teacher shall be reimbursed in accordance with Article 26, Expense Allowances.
