ESTABLISHED HOLIDAYS. 1. The following holidays will be observed on the calendar day on which each falls, except that a holiday falling on Sunday will be observed on the following Monday and a holiday falling on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday unless an alternate date is announced by the University, after discussion with the Union: New Year's Day, The third Monday in January, The last Monday in May, The Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Spring Administrative holiday will be a floating holiday, scheduled at the mutual convenience of the University and the employee during the calendar year in which it falls. 2. The following days will be observed as holidays on the dates shown or an alternate date agreed to in advance by the parties, except that a holiday falling on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday and a holiday falling on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday unless an alternate date is announced: The third Monday in February, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day, December 24, and December 31. 3. An employee may observe a special religious holiday provided that the University determines that work schedules permit and that the time off is charged to vacation or is without pay
ESTABLISHED HOLIDAYS. The established holidays of the College are: New Year’s Day Independence Day ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇’▇ Birthday Labor Day President’s Day Veteran’s Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Memorial Day Christmas Day When any of these holidays fall on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as the holiday; when a holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as the holiday. In case of emergency or if it should be in the best interest of the College, the president may declare holidays in addition to those established by the Board and notify faculty, staff, and students accordingly.

All employees scheduled to work the graveyard shift will have as their recognized and observed holiday the shift ending on the above-listed holidays. B. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday employees working in 24 hour operations will observe the actual day. Employees who don't work in 24 hour operations and who generally work a Monday through Friday work schedule will observe the holiday on Friday if it falls on Saturday and on Monday if it falls on Sunday. C. Employees shall be made whole for any lost hours caused by the employer’s decision to close a worksite and/or program in observation of a holiday not recognized in this Article. D. To be eligible for holiday pay an employee must be in pay status on the last day scheduled or assigned and on the next scheduled or assigned day after the observed holiday.

  • Worked Holidays Employees who are required to work on the above described holidays shall receive the pay due them for the holiday, plus twice their base rate for all hours worked on such holidays.

  • Designated Holidays A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall, instead be paid four decimal two five percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours worked.

  • NAMED HOLIDAYS 22.01 (a) Regular Full-time Employees shall be entitled to receive a day off with pay on or for the following Named Holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Alberta Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day August Civic Holiday and any day proclaimed to be a holiday by: (i) The Government of the Province of Alberta; or (ii) The Government of Canada. Further, any day proclaimed by the government of the municipality to be a civic holiday for general observance by the municipal community in which the site is located.

  • Scheduled Holidays Holidays for certain employees, typically 24/7 facilities, are pre-scheduled on days other than the holidays mentioned in Section 1. This schedule is determined in advance. If employees who have their holiday pre-scheduled are required to work on that pre-scheduled holiday day, they are compensated as follows: a.) Cash overtime employees are paid for the number of holiday hours pre-scheduled plus payment at the rate of time and one-half for the number of hours actually worked. b.) Compensatory leave eligible employees are paid for the number of hours prescheduled plus credited with holiday compensatory time for the number of hours actually worked, which must be used within one (1) year after having accrued this time. This provision does not apply to an employee who is on leave without pay during the same pay period as the assigned holiday.

  • Recognized Holidays 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned.
