Designated Holidays. A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall, instead be paid four decimal two five percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours worked.

16.03 Employees required to work on any Designated Holiday shall be paid in accordance with the overtime provisions in Article 14, for all hours worked at the request of the Employer.
16.04 Any holiday proclaimed by the Federal or Provincial Government shall be incorporated into this Agreement and observed as a Designated Holiday. Any civic holiday proclaimed by a Municipality shall be incorporated into this Agreement and observed within the boundaries of such a Municipality.
Designated Holidays. 32.1 Subject to clause 32.2, the following days shall be designated as holidays with pay for employees:
(a) New Year's Day,
(b) Good Friday,
(c) Easter Monday,
(d) the day fixed by proclamation of the Governor in Council for celebration of the Sovereign's Birthday,
(e) Canada Day,
(f) Labour Day,
(g) the day fixed by proclamation of the Governor in Council as a general day of Thanksgiving,
(h) Remembrance Day,
(i) Christmas Day,
(j) Boxing Day,
(k) one additional day in each year that, in the opinion of the Council, is recognized to be a provincial or civic holiday in the area in which the employee is employed or in any area where, in the opinion of the Council no such day is recognized as a provincial or civic holiday, the first Monday in August, and
(l) one additional day when proclaimed by an Act of Parliament as a National Holiday.
32.2 Clause 32.1 shall not apply to an employee who is absent without pay on both the working day immediately preceding and the working day immediately following the designated holiday.
Designated Holidays i) A designated paid holiday shall account for seven decimal five (7.5) hours.
ii) When an employee works on a Designated Paid Holiday, the employee shall be compensated, in addition to the pay for the hours specified in sub-paragraph (i), at time and one-half (1 ½) up to his regular scheduled hours of work and at double (2) time for all hours worked in excess of his regular scheduled hours.
Designated Holidays i. A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall instead, be paid a premium of four and one-quarter percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours during the period of part-time employment.
ii. When a part-time employee is required to work on a day that is prescribed as a designated paid holiday for a full-time employee in clause
15.01 of this agreement, the employee shall be paid time and one-half (1 1/2) the hourly rate of pay for all hours worked on the holiday.
Designated Holidays. 17.01 A nurse who otherwise qualifies under Article 17.02 hereunder shall receive 12 paid holidays as follows: New Year’s Day Family Day – 3rd Monday in February Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Canada Day – July 1 Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day In the event that the Provincial Government declares an additional holiday during the term of this Agreement, such holiday will be substituted for one of the above- mentioned holidays. The designation of the additional holiday for an existing holiday shall be subject to local determination and such designation shall not add to the present number of holidays.
17.02 In order to qualify for pay for a holiday, a full-time nurse shall complete the nurse’s full scheduled shift on each of the working days immediately preceding and following the holiday concerned unless excused by the Employer or the nurse was absent due to:
(a) legitimate illness or accident which commenced within a month of the date of the holiday;
(b) vacation granted by the Employer;
(c) the nurse’s regular scheduled day off;
(d) a paid leave of absence provided the nurse is not otherwise compensated for the holiday. A nurse entitled to holiday pay hereunder shall not receive sick leave pay to which the nurse may otherwise have been entitled unless the nurse was scheduled to work that day. A nurse receiving Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits for the day of the holiday shall, subject to the above provisions, be entitled to the difference between the amount of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits and the holiday pay.
17.03 Holiday pay will be computed on the basis of the full-time nurse’s regular straight time hourly rate of pay times the number of hours for a normal daily tour as set out in Article 15.01(a).
17.04 Subject to Article 17.02:
(a) where a holiday falls during a full-time nurse’s scheduled vacation period, the nurse’s vacation shall be extended by one day unless the nurse and the Employer agree to schedule a different day off with pay.
(b) where a holiday falls on a full-time nurse’s scheduled day off an additional day off with pay will be scheduled.
(a) A full-time nurse required to work on any of the foregoing holidays shall be paid at the rate of 1½ the nurse’s regular straight time hourly rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday subject to Article 17.04. Designated Holidays. (a) Every member shall be entitled to the following statutory holidays during the term of this Collective Agreement: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
(b) In addition to the holidays provided in (a) above, every member who has completed six months service on June 1st of any year shall on that date have credited to his/her lieu time bank one day's credit at straight time and every member who has completed six months service on October 1st of any year shall on that date have credited to his/her lieu time bank one day's credit at straight time similarly calculated, such time in each case to be used in accordance with the lieu time provisions of the Collective Agreement.
(c) A member to qualify for payment of holidays in (a) and (b) above must be in receipt of some salary including sick pay under clause 11:10 in respect to the two clear calendar months immediately preceding such holiday.
9:02 When any of the above-named holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Friday preceding or the Monday succeeding such holiday shall be designated by the Board as the day of observance of such holidays and it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday.
9:03 Every member who is not required to work on a day so designated as a holiday shall be entitled to and shall be paid his/her regular rate of pay for each designated holiday not so worked.
9:04 Every member who is required to work on a day so designated as a holiday shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half for the time so worked and, in addition, shall be granted the option of being paid for a full day at his/her regular rate of pay or receiving a day off in lieu thereof to be taken at a time agreed upon between the member and his/her Unit Commander. Lieu time may be taken as part of a day or as a whole day.
9:05 Subject to the requirements of the Service, members required to work on a Monday statutory holiday or a Monday designated as a statutory holiday shall be selected from amongst those members who were required to work on the weekend immediately preceding such statutory holiday.
Designated Holidays. The following days of each year are designated as holidays:
Designated Holidays. 1407 The following days shall be observed as designated holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. 1408 All designated holidays will be paid on the actual calendar day they fall, and all conditions and benefits applying to such a designated holiday will be in effect on that calendar day. 1409. In five (5) day, Monday through Friday departments, if the designated holiday falls on a Saturday and the department/location is normally closed on Saturday, the designated holiday will be observed on the preceding Friday for purposes of having the designated holiday off. Further, if the designated holiday falls on Sunday and the department/location is normally closed on Sunday, the following Monday will be the observed holiday for purposes of a holiday off. The observed holiday is not the actual calendar holiday and will not be subject to holiday worked premium should the employee work. 1410 In seven (7) day departments, designated holidays will be observed and paid either worked or unworked on the calendar day on which the holiday falls. 1411 Pay for part-time employees for unworked designated holidays shall be at the rate of ten percent (10%) of all straight time hours paid in previous pay period. 1412 Section 2 - Designated Holiday Premiums 1413 Regular employees working on designated holidays shall be paid at the overtime rate of one and one-half (1½) times their regular rate of pay in addition to their regular rate of pay. Employees may request the option of being paid one and one-half (1½) times the appropriate regular rate of pay with a compensatory day off to be taken within a thirty (30) day period before or after a holiday at the straight time rate of pay. If the requested compensatory day off is not granted, the employee will be paid at the straight time rate of pay for the day. If a regular employee's day off falls on a designated holiday, she/he shall receive an additional day off within one (1) month with no deduction in pay or the holiday pay. An employee who is scheduled to work on a day on which a designated holiday falls may not be displaced by a more senior employee or an on-call employee. Designated Holidays. For the purposes of this Agreement, designated holidays shall mean: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion Day, first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, one Floating Holiday per year to be taken at a time mutually agreed between the parties, and any other statutory holiday as proclaimed by the Federal or Provincial Governments.
