Exit Rules Sample Clauses

Exit Rules. The eASCTrendTS default settings leave unchecked all the exit rule boxes. With no exit rules selected, you may simply follow the buy/sell signals of eASCTrendTS. This means that once you are in a market, you will be given buy and sell signals on an ongoing basis so that you will always have a position in that market, i.e., moving from long to short and back to long as the trend changes from one direction to the other. If you check one or more of the exit rules, the Auto Select functions will include your selected exit rules in the calculations. Because eASCTrend has been designed to be a universal trading system that fits the needs of all traders, all of the exit rules listed below are made available. You may find that only one or a few of the exit rules are useful to you given the characteristics of the market you are trading. You have the option of selecting exit rules for non- symmetric entry and exit. Be aware that if you select certain exit rules, they may keep you from holding a position at times. Using exit rules may reduce your risk; however, because you may trade less, you may also sacrifice some profit. • Nth Bar: Exit on the Nth bar after entering a buy/sell position. Use the Nth bar exit mainly for choppy markets, such as the S&P futures daily chart. You need to input the appropriate “Nth bar” number in the input parameter window mentioned above. You can determine the best value of N through your own trial and error, using the back-testing report as a feedback mechanism to evaluate different settings. Use End of Bar Close execution. • Intelligent Nth Bar: Exit on the Nth bar in a choppy market, but stay on the trend and maintain the position in a trending market (a desirable approach in a mixed choppy/trending market). Bar close execution. • Green Bar: Exit on the Green bar under certain conditions. Bar close execution. • eASCTrend Stop: Exit when the eASCTrend Stop is hit. You can either place a limit order using the stop value (determined by consulting the Info Window to find the eASCTrend13—BuyStop/SellStop) of the previous bar (last closed bar/limit order needs an update whenever a change is made in stop value), or exit the position when you see the exit alert if you don’t like to place/update the limit order in advance. Real-time execution.
