EXTENDED ABSENCES FOR PERSONAL REASONS. Extended absences for personal reasons, from one semester not to exceed one year in length, may be granted without pay to the employee under the following conditions: 1. An employee requesting an extended leave of absence for the second semester shall submit such request to the Human Resources Division, with a copy to the principal, prior to the semester preceding the leave. An employee requesting an extended leave of absence for the full year or the first semester of the ensuing school year shall submit such request to the Human Resources Division, with a copy to the principal, prior to the year preceding the leave. 2. Approval must be recommended by the Superintendent or designee. Extended absences for newborn child care, generally not to exceed one year in length, may be granted without pay to the employees according to the above conditions.
