Common use of Extended Leave for Care of Family Members Clause in Contracts

Extended Leave for Care of Family Members. A leave without pay not to exceed twelve (12) months (inclusive of FMLA leave) may be granted to a faculty member to care for ill members of his/her immediate family upon written request by the faculty member and recommendation of the appropriate Vice President. Other conditions will be considered on the merits of each individual case. At least sixty (60) calendar days before the expiration date of the leave, except to the extent the leave is an FMLA leave, the faculty member must submit in writing to the appropriate Vice President either his/her intention to return, as agreed, or a request for an extension of the leave.
