Field Trips. (a) Field trips of at least one (1) hour duration shall be divided and rotated equally according to seniority among all regular bus drivers. The assignment for extra runs will be made by the Transportation Supervisor the Friday of the week prior to the week that the extra run is scheduled to be made. Drivers who wish to drive the extra trips shall indicate to the Transportation Supervisor as to their intentions weekly, in order that the assignments can be made. The Transportation Supervisor shall then continue to rotate the entire extra trips among all of the drivers as described in the paragraph above. The Transportation Supervisor shall furnish the driver who is assigned a field trip written instructions as to the map route and any directions that would be beneficial to that driver. Payment for field trips shall be in accordance with the Trip Price made by the Transportation Supervisor and the Union President, or their designees. No trading of buses and/or trips. (1) In the event a scheduled field trip is cancelled and the driver has begun service, the employee will be paid for actual time worked at their normal hourly rate, rounded up to the quarter hour, but nor to exceed the amount of the field trip rate for that trip. In addition, the total trip time is less than 2 hours, they will be placed on the cancellation list. If the total time earned is 2 hours or more, they will not be placed on the cancellation list they will be paid for time worked. (2) If there are multiple buses requested for a fieldtrip and there is a cancellation, the last bus requested will be cancelled. If multiple buses are requested and one is a special needs bus, the special needs bus will be placed last on the trip list. (b) The rate of meal allowance is included in the Trip Price. (c) The bus driver must remain with the activity group at the field trip site unless authorized or directed to leave for purposes related to the proper functioning or operation of the bus or the activity. The bus driver shall be permitted up to 1 hour to obtain a meal while on the field trip at regular meal times (lunch and dinner and breakfast), while maintaining contact with the person in charge of the field trip. The meal must be obtained at a restaurant, cafe or fast food establishment (not a bar, tavern or lounge) within close proximity to the site of the activity and the bus driver must return to the site promptly upon completion of the meal. If the activity group is to have a meal as part of the trip, the bus driver shall take his/her meal at the same time and place. No time shall be deducted from the bus driver’s pay for the time involved in obtaining and consuming the meal in compliance with this provision. The bus driver must respond immediately to an emergency or other conditions requiring bus service regardless of any provision contained herein. (d) The Board shall post on the bulletin board a seniority list for all of the employees who desire to drive summer trips, and shall rotate the assignment of all such drivers based on their seniority. (e) Drivers interested in driving buses for purposes other than student transportation shall be rotated among drivers on Field Trip list. (f) A driver turning in a trip shall be penalized from acquiring additional trips until the conclusion of the next Monday through Sunday period by being ineligible to take trips, with the exception of approved funeral leave. (g) Employees shall be allowed to work as substitute employees for other positions in the District provided that the time worked as a substitute is through EDUStaff or outside contract agency. (If the substitute is employed through Dexter Community Schools, the total combined time worked as a substitute and as a bus driver (regular runs and field trips), does not exceed forty

Field Trips. (a) A. Extra-Curricular/Field trips of Trips The drivers shall be contacted at least one forty-eight (148) hour duration shall be divided and rotated equally according to seniority among all regular bus drivers. The assignment for extra runs will be made by the Transportation Supervisor the Friday of the week hours prior to the week that scheduled date of an extra trip except in emergency. Field Trips. A. A field trip is any trip that is not defined as a regular run or an extra run. All field trips shall be authorized by the Superintendent, or his/her designee, one (a1) week in advance and posted in the Transportation Center immediately following authorization, if at all possible. B. Field trips shall be bid on or assigned on a continual year round basis for regular drivers. If a driver declines a field trip, he/she shall be passed by on the rotation list. A special event is a school event such as an Open House. Transportation staff will be required to attend K-4 Open Houses at their assigned building to meet with parents. C. Rules governing field trips (Appendix C) will be published and posted. These rules shall not be modified except by mutual agreement between the parties. D. Field trips shall be cancelled if the Director of at least Transportation considers roads to be hazardous. E. Field trips shall not be scheduled unless supervised by a teacher-sponsor or other adult as designated by the Building Principal. Occasional exceptions may be made upon approval of the Director of Transportation when another adult is not available. F. In the event a driver shows up for a field trip and has not been notified that the trip is cancelled, he/she will be entitled to one (1) hour duration shall pay. Field Trips. (a) Field trips 26.01 A field trip shall be defined as any transportation assignment which is scheduled through notification from the building principal, department head, teacher, coach, or group advisor to the Coordinator of Transportation Services for which a school bus, or a school van to be driven by a bus driver, will be used. Turn In/Call In 26.06 All field trips among all shall be assigned based upon a seniority rotation list for each of the drivers as described in four (4) categories just listed. (1) In the event a scheduled paid at field trip is cancelled and rates beginning at the driver has begun service, the employee will be paid for actual time worked at their normal hourly rate, rounded up to the quarter hour, but nor to exceed the amount end of the field trip rate for that trip. In addition, the total trip time is less than 2 hours, they will be placed on the cancellation list. No time shall be deducted from cancellation trip pay if the bus driver’s trip is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure. 26.14 Drivers are entitled to receive a minimum 2-½ hr. of trip pay for the time involved in obtaining and consuming the meal in compliance with this provisionthree cancelled trips (greater than 24 hour notice of cancellation). Except for Sundays which will be paid at least one and one-half times the regular rate and holidays which will be paid at two times the regular hourly rate, the rate for all time in excess of forty (40) hours per week shall be paid an overtime rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) hour duration shall times the regular rate. On over-night field trips, drivers will be divided paid for actual driving time each day with a guarantee of eight (8) hours per day and rotated equally according to seniority among will be provided with meals and lodging for all regular time spent on the trip. 1. A driver/attendant who does not attend the weekly field trip assignment meeting but who is otherwise eligible for a field trip assignment will be charged with declining the field trip rate as above. It is further understood that the Union and management will establish or reconfirm the rules for membership on the Field Trip Board and that trip. If the activity group is to have a meal as part of the trip, the bus driver shall take his/her meal at the same time and place. If a field trip has been posted at least six (6) hours during a workday but is still unassigned twenty-four (24) hours or less before the trip or an “ask” field trip arises twenty-four (24) hours of less before the trip, the Transportation Supervisor shall have the right to direct the least senior driver to take the trip. The driver so directed must drive the trip unless the driver has a personal obligation or family emergency. If multiple buses are requested and one is this occurs, then the Transportation Supervisor repeats this process with the next least senior driver. A field trip taken at the direction of the Transportation Supervisor shall not affect a special needs bus, the special needs bus will be placed last driver's position on the field trip list. (b) The rate D. A field trip request may be canceled for any reason including a decision to use alternate means of meal allowance transportation. The bus driver shall will be permitted up to 1 hour to obtain a meal while paid on the field trip rate from the time the field trip was scheduled to depart unless a delay in departure time was caused by the driver; in which case the field trip pay will begin at the actual field trip departure time. 4. If a field trip occurs during the day where such field trip causes a delay in the driver running his/her regular meal times route, the driver shall be paid for all time spent on the field trip but shall not be paid overtime for his/her regular route if the extended time on the regular route is caused by the field trip delay. F. Clean-up time fifteen (lunch 15) minutes after a field trip shall be paid at the regular field trip rate of pay unless there are special circumstances that may increase or decrease this time. Such time shall be paid at the regular field trip rate. Layover time on field trips shall be paid at the regular field trip rate. G. The compensation for overnight field trips shall be the same as any regular field trip with one exception. The present rotation system for field trips, as governed by seniority, shall not run continuously from year to year, but shall start new on the first student day of the Reynoldsburg School District calendar and dinner end on the last student day of the Reynoldsburg School District calendar. The assignment shall be comprised of a summer listing, in the order of seniority, of the bus drivers desiring to participate in summer field trips. It is understood this method of calculation will equalize trips assigned for drivers on the field trip sheet, but will not equalize total pay for those drivers, since weekend field trips will continue to be paid at the time and a half. Section 4 - Those drivers notified of trip cancellation prior to the trip shall not be charged for that trip. Those drivers shall then be offered the next available trip. Section 5 - A driver turning who is not available for a field trip when his/her name appears in a trip rotation shall be penalized from acquiring additional charged (for rotation purposes) for that trip. A driver that does not indicate by signing whether they are available or not will be charged for that trip. A driver who indicates he/she is available and is assigned a field trip but does not drive it, shall be charged double for that trip. If the trip is turned in within twelve (12) hours prior to leave time, the employee will be charged four (4) times for that trip. An employee on an excused leave will be charged double. Section 7 - There will be no trading or bumping of trips. Section 8 - Field trips will be numbered and posted each Tuesday p.m. of the school year. Field Trips. (a) Field trips 26.01 A field trip shall be defined as any transportation assignment which is scheduled through notification from the building principal, department head, teacher, coach, or group advisor to the Coordinator of Transportation Services for which a school bus, or a school van to be driven by a bus driver, will be used. If any trip at least the same time to the same place would require more than one (1) hour duration district vehicle to be used, a school bus driven by a bus driver shall be divided used instead. 26.02 If no driver is available to take or does not take a trip, the trip shall be offered to on-call substitutes, and rotated equally according then to seniority among all regular bus drivers. Any defects noted at that time shall be reported in writing as soon as possible to the mechanic. 11. When a school van accompanies a bus on a trip, a qualified Driver will be given first consideration to drive and will be covered by field trip rules. However, the District reserves the right to assign another Driver when it is in the best interest of the District. 12. On special occasions it may be necessary for the District to approve of an outside carrier for a field trip. Any field trips that remain unassigned following the field trip meeting described in Paragraph (B) may be offered to the week that the extra run is scheduled to be made. Drivers who wish to drive the extra trips shall indicate to the Transportation Supervisor as to their intentions weekly, in order that the assignments can be madesubstitute drivers for completion. The Transportation Supervisor shall then continue to rotate driver’s seniority list remains in effect until the entire extra trips among all of the drivers as described next scheduled field trip meeting. D. If a driver turns in the paragraph above. Field Trips. (a) Field trips 26.01 A field trip shall be defined as any transportation assignment which is scheduled through notification from the building principal, department head, teacher, coach, or group advisor to the Coordinator of Transportation Services for which a school bus or a school van will be used. If any trip at least the same time to the same place would require more than one (1) hour duration district vehicle to be used, a school bus driven by a bus driver shall be divided used instead. A school van/car or like motor vehicle (hereinafter “van”) will be used by a bus driver or a van driver when the number of students involved does not require the use of a school bus and rotated equally according the field trip is assigned to seniority among all regular a transportation department employee. A van driver may only participate in field trips when the field trip permits the usage of a school van and not a school bus, unless a van driver meets the definition of “bus driversdriver” as defined in Article 27. 26.02 If no driver is available to take or does not take a trip, the trip shall be offered to on-call substitutes, and then to outside providers, provided a good faith effort shall be made to consult with the Union prior to using any non-bargaining unit member to drive.‌ 26.03 All field trips in possession of the Transportation Office shall be posted on the first day of the week for the following week, (Sunday thru Saturday). The posted trips will come down on Wednesday (12:00 Noon) for assignment to drivers or van drivers. 26.04 Trips not posted on the first of the week due to unforeseen scheduling/emergencies will be assigned immediately and will not be posted on the board unless the trip occurs more than forty- eight (48) hours later which will then require posting. The Transportation Office will contact the eligible driver or van driver next in rotation for such emergency trips using the list (Day, evening, weekend) under which that trip falls. Trip departure time and date will determine how rapid of a response the Transportation Office will allow for securing an eligible bus or van driver from the appropriate rotation list. Depending on trip departure time, the Transportation Office will perform a good faith effort to contact the eligible bus or van driver next on the list. If there were to be a complete rotation made and there is NO eligible bus or van driver secured for the trip the Transportation Office will revert to the entire driver seniority list for securing an eligible bus or van driver for the trip, providing there is adequate time. If there is no appropriate time for an eligible bus or van driver search, the Transportation Office will contact any eligible and available bus or van driver. 26.05 Trips will be divided into four (4) categories for the purpose of assignment rotation as follows among bus or van drivers provided that the Coordinator/Site Supervisor of Transportation Services may deviate from using the applicable list if time constraints are such that it is reasonable to determine that it would not be practical to use such list: 1. Daytime 2. Evening 3. Weekend 4. Turn In/Call In 26.06 All field trips shall be assigned based upon a seniority rotation list for each of the four (4) categories listed above. These lists shall be established on a voluntary basis, and the bus or van driver's classification seniority shall be used. Any bus or van driver who turns in or is late to three (3) accepted trips in a season will be taken off the field trip rotation for that season (seasons being fall, winter, spring, and summer). A bus driver shall not be considered late if he/she is late to a field trip due to their regular route responsibilities. Additionally, any bus or van driver who fails to report to perform his/her field trip shall be subject to the following: 1st occurrence: Loss of ability to select a field trip in rotation for 1 week 2nd occurrence: Loss of ability to select a field trip in rotation for 2 weeks 3rd occurrence: Loss of ability to select a field trip in rotation for the season 4th occurrence: Loss of ability to select a field trip in rotation for the current school year 26.07 Daytime field trips: Bus or van drivers may be permitted to interrupt their AM, Mid-day, or PM route for a field trip. 26.08 If a daytime field trip should extend into the drivers contracted PM route, the bus or van driver will simply log down the trip time stopping at the start of the contract route time. A Route Specialist must be available for the forfeited route that is vacated by the bus or van driver. This is subject to change on the day of the trip. This will be under the discretion of the Coordinator/Site Supervisor. 26.09 Evening field trips: A. Any field trip starting at 2:00 p.m. (Monday thru Friday). B. Evening field trips that begin prior to the end of the contractual day shall be paid at field trip rates beginning at the end of the contractual day without subtraction from regular pay because of the field trip. C. A bus or van driver may bid on a trip and give up their entire PM route for an evening trip from the evening field trip list. D. The pay for these trips will start at the end of the bus or van driver contractual workday. If the bus or van driver taking the trip is vacating their contacted route, they will still need to report to the garage at their contractual work time and stand by for their trip departure time. E. If a trip starts and ends within the PM route time, a bus or van driver will be paid his/her normal hourly rate of pay and will not be eligible for additional field trip pay; i.e., the bus or van driver is simply taking the trip in lieu of the route. F. A Route Specialist must be available for the forfeited PM route that is vacated by the bus or van driver. This is subject to change on the day of the trip. This will be under the discretion of the Coordinator/Site Supervisor. G. Weekend: Any field trip occurring on a Saturday or Sunday. H. Turn In/Call In: Any field trip that is turned back in or added with less than forty-eight (48) hours before departure. A trip with more than forty-eight (48) hour notice shall be posted. 26.10 A bus or van driver is guaranteed to be paid for 2-½ hours at this field trip rate of pay for any field trip. 26.11 A bus or van driver is guaranteed to be paid for two and one-half ( 2-½) hours at the field trip rate if assigned to a field trip that is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure. If the date, time, or location changes for a field trip, the bus or van driver assigned to the field trip has the right to keep or decline the field trip without counting as a field trip “turn in.” If the bus or van driver declines to keep the field trip that was changed due to date, time, or location, the bus or van driver shall have the right to be inserted at the top of the seniority rotation list for field trip selection. If a field trip is assigned as an away trip and the field trip changes to be hosted at home within 24 hours of the field trip departure time, the driver will be paid for two and one half (2 ½) hours at the field trip rate of pay. 26.12 If more than one bus or van driver is dispatched for a trip and only one driver is needed, the first bus or van driver assigned will choose to take the trip or take the 2-½ hr. cancellation trip pay if the trip is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure. 26.13 Bus or van drivers are entitled to receive a minimum 2-½ hr. of trip pay for the three cancelled trips (greater than 24-hour notice of cancellation). Bus or van drivers are required to turn in the three field trip forms with their time sheets. 26.14 Bus and van drivers may not trade field trips. 26.15 Bus and van drivers shall be paid at the field trip rate for a minimum of (a) two and one-half (2- ½) hours. Bus and van drivers performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on field trips greater than two and one-half (2-½) hours will add .25 hours to trip pay for the pre-trip and .25 hours for the post-trip inspections unless the bus/van being used for the field trip has already been pre- tripped by the bus driver performing the field trip during his/her regular workday. When a field trip occurs on the weekend or when NAPLS is not is session, the bus or van driver will be paid an additional .25 hours for travel time to the transportation department at the field trip rate of pay. 26.16 If post-trip clean-up requires longer than the allotted fifteen (15) minutes, the bus or van driver will also be paid, at the field trip rate for the extra runs time required to clean. 26.17 The decision to classify a field trip as a drop off - pick up will be made by the Coordinator/ Site Supervisor. Field Trips. Compensation to contract drivers shall be under the following conditions: a. A “field trip” is defined as any additional driving assignment that is not part of the driver’s regular morning (apick up) Field and afternoon (drop off) routes, which are considered part of the driver’s “normal day.” This includes, but is not limited to, sporting events, extracurricular activities, shuttles, FCAT shuttles, trips generally considered to be “field trips,” or the like. b. One voluntary master list consisting of short, long (per diem) and overnight trips of at least one (1) hour duration contract bus drivers by geographic area and by seniority, and an all inclusive master list by seniority of contract bus drivers shall be divided and rotated equally according to seniority among all regular bus drivers. Persons selected from the all inclusive list shall be permitted one refusal. After the initial all inclusive list has been exhausted, that effected the Director of Transportation may assign a field trip to a contract driver on a mandatory basis. Each contract driver assigned a trip, either voluntary or mandatory, shall be placed on the cancellation bottom of the all inclusive list and offered once an assignment is completed. The Director of Transportation may maintain separate lists for FCAT shuttles. FCAT shuttles will be assigned in accordance with the next available trip, regardless of procedures above for field trip rotation seniority or assignments. Once assigned, the length driver shall drive the full multi-week schedule of the tripshuttle. Payment for A field trip committee shall meet annually with the Director of Transportation, upon request, to make recommendations on additional procedures that relate to field trip assignments. The committee may meet more than once if needed. c. On non-working days, field trips shall be in accordance with the Trip Price made by the Transportation Supervisor and the Union President, or their designees. Field Trips. A. A field trip of up to and including twenty (a20) Field trips of at least students shall require one (1) hour duration parent or teacher chaperone riding on the bus. Student field trip groups in excess of twenty (20) students on one (1) bus shall require two (2) parents and/or teacher chaperones riding the bus. It shall be the responsibility of the District to inform the activity sponsor of this requirement prior to or at the time of request for a field trip bus. Field Trips. (a) a. A field trip is defined to be the transportation of students other than on a regular run. b. A driver interested in driving for field trips shall notify the supervisor and shall have their name put on the field trip list. All field trips shall be posted, along with the projected length of the trip, on the field trip chart. Field trips shall be awarded to interested drivers using a rotation system according to seniority. Field trips refused shall be charged to the driver on the chart. The chart is to be placed in a conspicuous location seven (7) days in advance of at least a trip when possible. This system is subject to change by a majority vote by the drivers. Trips canceled or postponed shall not be charged. The driver of a canceled or postponed trip is to be first on the rotation in the following week. c. There shall be a one (1) hour duration minimum payment to a driver who shows for an extra trip that is canceled. The rate of pay shall be divided at the driver’s regular rate. d. Field Trips. A. All field trips shall be authorized by the Superintendent, or his/her designee, one (a1) week in advance and posted in the Transportation Center immediately following authorization, if at all possible. Field Trips. Compensation to contract drivers shall be under the following conditions: a. A “field trip” is defined as any additional driving assignment that is not part of the driver’s regular morning (apick up) Field and afternoon (drop off) routes, which are considered part of the driver’s “normal day.” This includes, but is not limited to, sporting events, extracurricular activities, shuttles, FCAT shuttles, trips generally considered to be “field trips,” or the like. b. One voluntary master list consisting of short, long (per diem) and overnight trips of at least one (1) hour duration contract bus drivers by geographic area and by seniority, and an all inclusive master list by seniority of contract bus drivers shall be divided and rotated equally according to seniority among all regular bus drivers. The assignment for extra runs will be made maintained by the Director of Transportation Supervisor for the Friday purpose of field trip selection. If all contract drivers on the week prior to the week that the extra run is scheduled to be made. Drivers who wish to drive the extra trips shall indicate to the Transportation Supervisor as to their intentions weekly, in order that the assignments can be made. The Transportation Supervisor shall then continue to rotate the entire extra trips among all of the drivers as described in the paragraph above.
