Common use of FUNERAL OR BEREAVEMENT LEAVE Clause in Contracts

FUNERAL OR BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Funeral or bereavement leave may be used at the request of an employee for death in the immediate family, which is defined to include his/her spouse, children, parents, or siblings, corresponding relatives-in-law, grandchildren or grandparents and “step” relatives corresponding to any of these, or any relative living in the employee’s home. 1. The first two (2) days of funeral or bereavement leave will not be deducted from sick leave. Upon approval of the Superintendent or designee, one (1) additional day not deducted from the employee’s sick leave allowance may be used for necessary travel or business in connection with a death or funeral. 2. Funeral leave for close friends of an employee may be granted at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.
