General Provisions for 12 Hour Shift Employees. (i) Twelve hour shifts will apply only to employees working a seven day continuous twenty-four hour operation. (ii) The implementation of a twelve hour shift will be by mutual agreement between the Company and the Union. (iii) Twelve hour shifts may only be implemented where seventy-five (75) per cent of the employees in a unit or area petition for the change. (iv) The Company and the Union will mutually agree on the constitution of units or areas. (v) Two wage employees designated by the Union from the unit or area affected, will monitor the vote as outlined in part (iii) above. (vi) Twelve hour shifts may be terminated for any of the following reasons: (a) When more than 50% of the employees who are working twelve hour shifts on a unit petition to terminate twelve hour shifts at the end of a 54 week cycle. (b) At the request of the Union after 30 days’ notice. (c) At the request of the Company after 30 days’ notice.
