Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee. (a) The Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee is an advisory committee to the MSC. (b) The Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee will be composed of members appointed by the MSC on the advice of the Government and the Doctors of BC. (c) The Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee will be co-chaired by a Government representative and a Doctors of BC representative, and the chair will alternate for successive meetings. (d) The Government will provide administrative and clerical support required for the work of the Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee. The Government will provide up to $460,000 annually to support the work of the Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee. The costs of physician participation in the Guidelines and Protocols Committee,other than physicians who are employed by the Doctors of BC, Government or Health Authorities, unless such Health Authority employed physicians are participating on behalf of the Doctors of BC, will be paid from the $460,000 referred to in this section. (e) The Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee will, at the request of any of the Joint Clinical Committees or the Physician Services Committee from time to time, develop guidelines and protocols to support the effective utilization of medical services. (f) The Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee will develop strategies for the rapid adoption by all affected parties of guidelines and protocols once they are approved.
