Common use of HOLIDAYS FALLING ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY Clause in Contracts

HOLIDAYS FALLING ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. When any statutory holiday (as per 18.01) falls on a Saturday, the previous Friday or following Monday shall be observed. When any statutory holiday falls on a Sunday, the previous Friday or following Monday shall be observed. Where two statutory holidays fall together on a Saturday and Sunday some combination of the previous Thursday and Friday and/or of the following Monday and Tuesday will be observed with the intention of there being four days off in a row. Where statutory holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday so that such decisions regarding the observation of such Holidays are required, the College will inform the Union and employees of such decisions prior to the end of the previous calendar year. Where the College and the Union agree, a statutory holiday (as per 18.01) may be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable time.
