In-Service Programme. (d) Both the Hospital and the Union recognize their joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and to participate in, in-service education. The Union supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Hospital will endeavour to provide programmes related to the requirements of the Hospital. Available programmes will be publicized. Where an employee is on duty and authorized to attend any required in- service programmes within the Hospital during his or her regularly scheduled working hours, he or she shall suffer no loss of pay, and such time will not be considered as time worked for the purpose of calculating overtime entitlement. Where an employee is required to attend authorized courses outside his or her regularly scheduled working hours, he or she shall be paid at his or her regular straight time rate of pay.
