In-Service Education. The parties recognize the value of in-service both to the employee and the Employer and shall encourage employees to participate in in-service. All employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service seminars shall receive regular wages.
In-Service Education. (1) Employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars on other than a scheduled day off shall receive straight-time wages all hours in attendance at the seminar.
(2) Employees required by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars on a scheduled day off shall receive compensation for all hours in attendance at the seminar in accordance with Articles 21 and 22.
In-Service Education.
(a) Employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars or an on-line course on other than a scheduled day off shall receive straight-time wages for all hours in attendance at the seminar/course.
(b) Employees required by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars or an on-line course on a scheduled day off shall receive compensation for all hours in attendance at the seminar/course in accordance with Articles 14 (Hours of Work and Scheduling), 15 (Hours of Work and Scheduling-Community Health Workers), and 16 (Overtime).
In-Service Education. In-service education programs shall be instituted and maintained within the Medical Center. The programs shall be made available to all nurses regardless of shift. These programs are to contribute toward staff development and toward the preparation of the nursing staff for greater proficiency and/or responsibility in nursing. To accomplish this, educational resources from both inside and outside the Medical Center can be utilized. Nurses in the bargaining unit shall be expected to participate in in-service education programs offered during working hours; coverage will be provided when necessary as determined by the Nurse Manager or designee. If a nurse is requested to attend an in-service program on off-duty time such time will be considered work time and paid accordingly. These programs shall be planned as feasible to meet CERP requirements for approval. Nurses shall be expected to incorporate new learning into job performance. When mandatory training is held during the nurses’ regularly scheduled work day and the nurse is assigned to attend, attendance shall be considered part of the nurses’ normal work assignment.

Should the Employer mandate in-service or meetings on an employees’ off hours, such pay will be at a minimum of two (2) hours pay.
In-Service Education. Employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars shall receive regular wages.
In-Service Education. An in‐service program will be maintained by each department. Attendance at mandatory in‐ services will be paid at the appropriate rate of pay.
In-Service Education. (a) Employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service education seminars shall receive regular wages. At the employee's request, the Employer will continue to endeavour to replace employees for all or part of a shift abutting mandatory in-service education seminars.
(b) Where the in-service education takes place outside of the employee's regularly scheduled work hours or days, and attendance is voluntary, the employee will not be paid.
In-Service Education. The Medical Center agrees to maintain a continuing in- service education program for all Registered nurses covered by this Agreement. In the event a Registered nurse is required by the Medical Center to attend in- service education functions outside their normal shift, their hours of attendance will be treated as hours worked.
In-Service Education a. The Agencies will continue their practice of providing in-service education for all employees, on all shifts, on a regular basis.
b. Within the first year of employment nursing employees covered by this Agreement shall be provided with in-service education which is similar or relevant to the following: Psycho-Social Nursing; Psycho-Pharmacology; Basic Behavioral Psychology; Nursing Assessment; and Legal/Ethical Information. Such in-service education may be provided annually to nursing employees where the Agency determines the need for such training.
c. Training for employees may be conducted both during and outside an employee's work schedule. Overtime rules shall apply where the employee's attendance is required by the Agency is not voluntary and the sessions involve time outside the employee's work schedule.
d. Travel and mileage allowance will be available in accordance with Article 26 when travel is required for in-service education.
e. Employees may be granted leaves of absence with pay to attend conferences, seminars, briefing sessions or other functions of a similar nature that are intended to improve or upgrade the individual's skills or professional abilities or enhance the profession. Tuition and other expenses may also be provided subject to the availability of funds for this purpose. The tuition and other expenses provided by the Agency shall be reasonably related to the actual costs of the specific function. The above must, however, be directly related to enhancing the employee's skills relative to the mission of the Agency. If granted, employees will not lose pay, nor will schedules be adjusted so that the conference falls on off days.
f. The employer will provide paid training for Oregon State Board of Nursing required continuing education based on availability of funds.
