Common use of Informal Credits Clause in Contracts

Informal Credits. Only twelve (12) informal type credits out of each thirty (30) consecutive points may be used for advancement on the training section of the salary schedule, and this type of credit shall not exceed six (6) points during any five year period. This limitation of the number of informal credits to be used for salary purposes will not apply after a staff member receives permanent certification for his/her position and is on tenure with the White Plains Public Schools. Informal-type activities include work outside organized college classes such as travel, authorship, independent research, supervision of student teachers and a planned program of professional reading and study carried out independently or in organized groups and approved by the Superintendent or his/her representative in consultation with the designated representative of the White Plains Teachers Association. Informal credit for non-college projects will be generally given at the rate of one (1) point for each 36 hours of work. In all cases where an activity is not to be credited on an official college or university transcript, the staff member must file an application with the Director of Staff Development and Instructional Personnel for approval in advance of taking the course or workshop.
