Common use of Initial Discussions Clause in Contracts

Initial Discussions. ‌ Any employee who believes that he or she has a grievance may discuss his or her complaint with the top management official in the department in which he or she works, or with such subordinate management official as the department head may designate. If the issue is not resolved within the department, or if the employee elects to submit his or her grievance directly to an official of the employee organization which is formally recognized as the representative of the classif ication to which he or she is assigned, the procedures hereafter specified may be invoked.
