Interim Special Guide Signs. When it is not possible to utilize existing signs, either in place or relocated, the Contractor shall furnish, erect, maintain, modify, relocate, and remove new interim special guide signs in accordance with the Plans or as directed by the Engineer. Interim special guide signs that may be required in addition to, or a replacement for, existing expressway and freeway (interstate) signs shall be designed and fabricated in compliance with the minimum requirements for guide signing contained in Part 2E “Guide Signs – Freeway and Expressway” of the MUTCD. All interstate xxxxxxx on these signs shall be 48 inches and 60 inches for two-numeral and three- numeral routes, respectively. The road name of the exit or route shield shall be placed on the exit xxxx sign.
