INVESTIGATION, DUE PROCESS, DISCIPLINE & CHALLENGE. As members of NJIT’s Department of Public Safety, Sergeants are entrusted with the safety and security of university property and its representatives, employees, students, licensees and guests. Failure to perform or negligent performance of a Sergeant’s responsibilities could have serious and unacceptable consequences. Misconduct is on its face, unacceptable and often terminable. A high standard of excellence is expected and must be maintained by all Sergeants at all times, exemplifying respect, honor, dignity, commitment, integrity and requisite skills. It is against this purpose and expectation that the conduct of Sergeants will be measured.
