Emergency Suspensions. Pending an investigation, a Sergeant may be subject to emergency suspension for the following:
a. The employee is unfit for duty.
b. The employee is a hazard to any person if permitted to remain on the job.
c. An immediate suspension is necessary to maintain safety, health, order or effective direction of public services.
d. The employee has been formally charged with a first, second, or third degree crime.
e. The employee has been formally charged with a first, second, third or fourth degree crime while on duty, or a criminal act related to his or her employment. At the time of the suspension, the individual shall be provided with a written statement of the reasons the actions has been taken. A copy of the written statement shall be provided to the SOA representative.
Emergency Suspensions. If the student poses an immediate threat to his or her own safety or to the safety of others, the school district may immediately suspend the student for up to ten school days. During the suspension period, the student's I.E.P. team will meet to determine whether the misbehavior is caused by the student's disability and whether further evaluation is necessary.
Emergency Suspensions. The Director may immediately suspend a user's discharge, after informal notice to the user, whenever such suspension is necessary to stop an actual or threatened discharge which reasonably appears to present or cause an imminent or substantial endangerment to the health or welfare of persons. The Director may also immediately suspend the user's discharge, after notice and opportunity to respond, that threatens to interfere with the operation of the POTW, or which presents or may present an endangerment to the environment.
(1) Any user notified of a suspension of its discharge shall immediately stop or eliminate its contribution. In the event of a user's failure to immediately comply voluntarily with the suspension the Director may take such steps as deemed necessary, including immediate severance of the order, sewer connection, and/or termination of water supply, to prevent or minimize damage to the POTW, its receiving stream or endangerment to any individuals. The Director may allow the user to recommence its discharge when the user has demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Director that the period of endangerment has passed.
(2) A user that is responsible, in whole or in part, for any discharge presenting imminent endangerment shall submit a detailed written statement to the Director, describing the causes of the harmful contribution and the measures taken to prevent any future occurrence. Nothing in this section shall be interpreted as requiring a hearing prior to any emergency suspension under this section.
Emergency Suspensions. The District will limit disciplinary suspensions to a maximum of five (5) working days, except in cases of emergency suspensions. Emergency suspensions will occur only when responding to those emergency situations where the safety or welfare of the employee, other District employees or the general public is threatened, or the operations or services of the District are substantially disrupted or impeded. In emergency suspension cases, the District will convene a disciplinary meeting upon request by the Union following the suspension to review the circumstances. If the District cannot make a discipline decision within fifteen (15) calendar days following an emergency suspension, upon the Union's request, the District will schedule a status meeting with the Union and the employee, on or before the thirtieth (30th) calendar day following the suspension. The District will limit emergency suspensions to thirty (30) calendar days and, in any event, no more than forty-five (45) calendar days before the discipline decision is made, except in cases where an employee's criminal proceedings are still pending. It is understood that in all disciplinary hearings by the Personnel Board, the accused shall not be required to testify prior to the presentation of all evidence relied upon by the District to support its charges. Upon completion of an investigation that does not result in a termination hearing, the employee shall be returned to their previous work location where feasible and be made whole including full back pay except in cases where a CAM hearing or agreement with the Union results in a determination that a suspension without pay is warranted, whereupon the District shall be entitled to deduct the suspension days from the employee’s back pay.
Emergency Suspensions. 1. Any supervisor who feels that an employee’s condition, actions, or circumstances require that they be immediately relieved of duty, for the safety or in the best interest of the officer and the community, will direct that officer to proceed immediately to police headquarters and standby in the squad-room for further instructions. The officer will be advised that they are out of service and are not to respond to any calls for service or taken any other police action until further notice. The supervisor will also respond to police headquarters as soon as is reasonably practical.
2. Upon arrival the supervisor will immediately contact and advise the Operations Commander of the situation. The Operations Commander will advise the supervisor of what action to take from that point. If it is determined that the officer should be suspended pending review by the PSD/XXXX, the Operations Commander may direct that the officer be relieved of his duty weapon and other equipment or police identification as deemed necessary, appropriate, and proper.
a. If possible the Operations Commander, or another division commander, should respond to police headquarters to carry out the suspension. If this is not possible the supervisor will suspend the officer as directed by the Operations Commander. The supervisor should have another officer present when taking the action.
b. The Operations Commander will notify the PSD/XXXX of the suspension as soon as is reasonably possible. The PSD/XXXX in turn will be responsible for notifying the mayor or his designee.
3. The officer being suspended will be directed to report to the PSD/CLEO’s office at 0900hrs the next business day. The officer will be advised that failure to do so will result in additional disciplinary action.
4. The supervisor will prepare and submit a detailed written report to the Operations Commander prior to the securing on the date of the action was taken. Any other officer who witnessed any condition or action that lead to the suspension, or served as a witness for the suspension will also be required to submit a written report prior to being relieved.
5. The officer, supervisor, and Operations Commander will report to the PSD/XXXX at 0900hrs the next business day. The Operations Commander will provide the PSD/XXXX with all the reports prior to the meeting. The PSD/XXXX will determine if the suspension should be continued, or what other action should be taken.

Emergency Suspensions. A. Ranking supervisory personnel may recommend an emergency suspension, or enact an emergency relief of duty, when circumstances are serious, and dictate that it is in the best interest of the department that such action be taken. This type of suspension is temporary in nature.
B. The Chief of Police retains authority to override an emergency suspension or relief from duty when it is found that conditions requiring such a suspension no longer exist, or the suspension is found to be without basis or justification.
C. Emergency suspensions or relief from duty may be warranted when:
1. A member is deemed physically or psychologically unfit to perform their assigned duties;
2. The seriousness of the conduct is such that a supervisor deems it is in the best interest of the department, the member, and/or the community;
3. It is deemed necessary during the course of an Internal Affairs Investigation. For further information see General Order entitled “Internal Affairs”.
D. As soon as practical, an emergency suspension will be reported to the Chief of Police or his/her designee, and the member's immediate supervisor.
E. Nothing contained herein is intended to limit any supervisor from taking immediate corrective action, to send home, or to temporarily relieve from duty, any member found to be grossly negligent or insubordinate in the performance of their duties, and/or in violation of State, Federal, or local law, departmental rules, regulations, general orders, policies or procedures.
Emergency Suspensions. An employee may be placed on emergency suspension without pay, pending disciplinary action, when retention of the employee might result in damage to or loss of property or funds, might be injurious to the employee or others, might be detrimental to the interests of the NAF activity, or when there are justifiable reasons to believe that the employee is guilty of a crime for which a prison sentence may be imposed. In such cases, the employee will be provided at least 24-hours advance notice of the emergency suspension. The employee may be removed from the work place immediately but shall be paid during the 24- hour notice period for normally scheduled work hours during this
Emergency Suspensions. CSEA and the District recognize that emergency situations can occur involving the health and welfare of students or employees. If the employee’s presence would, in the judgment of the Superintendent or designee, be a danger to the lives, safety or health of students, or fellow employees, the District may immediately suspend. Such suspension shall be with pay until the employee has been given the written notice described in 16.5 above. Thereafter the employee may be suspended with or without pay.
Emergency Suspensions. Supervisory/command officers have the authority to impose an emergency suspension, with pay, when it appears that such action is in the interest of the department. The emergency suspension shall be effective until the next business day. Any member receiving suspension shall report to the Chief of Police at 0900 hours the following business day unless otherwise directed by the Chief of Police or his designee.
Emergency Suspensions. The Director of Utilities Services may immediately suspend a User's Discharge, after informal notice to the User, whenever such suspension is necessary to stop an actual or threatened Discharge which reasonably appears to present or cause an imminent or substantial endangerment to the health, safety or welfare of Persons and/or TCS and POTW employees; damage or cause to damage the collection, treatment recharge/reuse system, or any part thereof, or cause a detrimental decrease in recharge water quality. The Director of Utilities Services may also immediately suspend a User's Discharge, after notice and opportunity to respond, that threatens to interfere with the operation of the TCS and POTW, or which presents, or may present, an endangerment to the environment.
A. Any User notified of a suspension of its Discharge shall immediately stop or eliminate its wastewater Discharge. In the event of a User's failure to immediately comply voluntarily with the suspension order, the Director of Utilities Services may take such steps as deemed necessary including, but not limited to, immediate severance of the Sewer Connection, to prevent or minimize damage to the TCS and POTW, the aquifer or other receiving waters, or endangerment to any individuals. The Director of Utilities Services may allow the User to recommence its Discharge when the User has demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Director of Utilities Services that the period of endangerment has passed, unless the termination proceedings in Section 16-4-57 of this ordinance are initiated against the User.
B. A User that is responsible, in whole or in part, for any Discharge presenting imminent endangerment shall submit a detailed written statement, describing the causes of the harmful contribution and the measures taken to prevent any future occurrence, to the Director of Utilities Services prior to the date of any show cause or termination hearing under Sections 16-4-52 or 16-4-57 of this ordinance. Nothing in this Section shall be interpreted as requiring a hearing prior to any emergency suspension under this Section.
