Common use of JOB CLASSIFICATIONS AND RATES OF PAY Clause in Contracts

JOB CLASSIFICATIONS AND RATES OF PAY. a. Employees shall be classified and paid in accordance with Schedule "A" which is attached to this Agreement and forms a part of it. b. The Employer will grant its employees recognition of service time for wage progression purposes where the employee was absent due to pregnancy, parental, personal emergency, family medical, reservist or declared emergency leave, injury, illness or disability. 7.02 Related professional experience shall be recognized by hiring a person at the wage level appropriate to the teacher’s years of experience. 7.03 Where an employee notifies the Director of Finance of an error on his or her pay cheque and after an error is found to be made, then the School Association shall correct the error as soon as possible and not later than the next scheduled pay day. 7.04 New classifications and wage rates are to be established only by mutual agreement between the parties hereto. 7.05 Employees shall be paid bi-weekly, on Thursdays, between September 1st and August 31st. The employees’ salary shall be divided by twenty-six (26) or twenty-seven (27) pay periods, depending on the number of pay periods that fall in a given contract year. 7.06 In recognition of the fact that a teacher’s main vacation period is during the summer, a teacher whose employment terminates before the end of the school year shall normally have his or her salary prorated as a percentage of eleven (11) months. It is agreed that this provision fulfills the statutory requirement on vacation pay and that no additional payments are owing. For clarification, this Article does not apply to leaves of absence. 7.07 For all employees, the pay year shall be September 1st to August 31st. For all existing employees for whom this change causes hardship, the Board and employee will establish a plan that is agreeable to both parties. 7.08 Each employee is paid by automatic bank deposit to the employee’s bank account.
