Funeral Leave. A. In the event of death in the immediate family, a permanent unit member shall qualify for funeral leave with pay for up to three (3) consecutive workdays (24 hours) for participation in funeral services or arrangements.
B. For the purpose of this section, “immediate family” is defined as: spouse, child or stepchild, grandchild, parent, stepparent, grandparent, brother, sister, parents or stepparents of spouse, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, and grandparents of spouse.
A. Funeral pay will be provided to accommodate absences occurring only on regularly scheduled workdays at the employee’s base rate of pay. Funeral leave will not be granted for any period during which the employee is already in a paid or unpaid leave status (unpaid leave status is interpreted as being military leave, disciplinary suspension, voluntary unpaid leave, absence without leave).
B. Eligibility is further conditioned upon submission by the employee of a certificate as to the purpose and validity of leave usage.
C. Leave requests meeting the conditions of these sections will be approved by the employee’s immediate supervisor and, if requested, the employee shall further submit proof of death and relationship.
D. Requests for funeral leave with pay will not be approved for absences not taken within a seven (7) calendar day period of the date of the funeral.
A. In the event of the death of an employee’s relative and not in the immediate family, as defined above, leave time with pay up to one eight (8) hour workday may be taken for funeral purposes. No more than twenty-four (24) hours may be taken in any one (1) calendar year as funeral leave in keeping with this section.
B. In the event a unit member should require additional time in excess of the allowances established in the above provisions, such additional time may be charged against vacation credits, with the approval of the supervisor.
Section 4: Use of funeral leave will not be charged against accumulated sick leave balances.
Section 5: In addition to funeral leave, in the event of the death of a spouse and/or a child of the employee, two (2) days’ sick leave may be used by the employee as additional bereavement leave.
Funeral Leave. In case of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be paid for a reasonable period of absence, depending upon the circumstances, but not to exceed three (3) days, provided he attends the funeral. In no case will he receive more than his normal week’s pay. “ Immediate family” shall mean spouse, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, child, brother, sister, grandparents or any relative residing with the employee.
Funeral Leave. A. In the case of death of the mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, stepchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, or in the case of death of any other relative residing in the immediate household of a regular employee, the employee shall be allowed four (4) days funeral leave with regular pay without deduction from his pay or accumulated sick leave to attend the funeral or memorial service.
B. In the case of death of a sister in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, aunt, uncle, nephew, or niece of a regular employee, the regular employee shall be allowed one (1) day funeral leave with regular pay without deduction from his pay or accumulated sick leave to attend the funeral or memorial service.
C. In addition, a regular employee may be allowed to use up to four (4) working days of his accumulated sick leave in the case of death of any of the above designated persons for the days before or following the funeral to attend the funeral or memorial service, and for travel to and from the funeral or memorial service. For purposes of this Section, the term "day" shall be as defined in Section 1.
Funeral Leave. 1. All employees shall be granted up to five (5) working days off with pay for a death in the employee’s immediate family. The immediate family shall be defined as: Employee’s spouse, children, mother, father, brother, sister and corresponding in- laws, grandparents, grandchildren or member(s) of the employee’s household.
2. Time off with pay, not to exceed one (1) day, will be granted for attendance at the funeral service of a person whose relationship warrants such attendance.
Funeral Leave. In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted up to three (3) days leave of absence with pay. The length of such absence shall be at the discretion of the Employer. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild or any relative living in the household of the employee. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if the death is a case of spouse, father, mother or child, the employee shall be entitled to one (1) week leave of absence with pay. It is understood that in the case of a part-time employee, the compensation shall be at the average hours worked during the preceding four (4) weeks. Time off due to the death of a member of an employee's family must be taken at the time of the bereavement.
Funeral Leave. In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted leave of absence with pay. The length of such absence shall be at the discretion of the Employer. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, common law spouse (including same sex partner), parent, child, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, or any relative living in the household of the employee. It is understood that the minimum leave of absence shall be three (3) days except in the case of a spouse, parent or child the minimum shall be one (1) week. It is further understood that in the case of a part time employee, the compensation shall be at the average hours worked during the preceding four (4) weeks.
Funeral Leave. The Em ployer agrees to pay full-time employees for necessary absence on account of death in the immediate family up to and including a maximum of three (3) scheduled work days at straight time, provided the employee at tends the funeral. The term “ immediate family” shall mean spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, or any relative residing with the employee or with whom the employee is residing.
Funeral Leave. Any employee in the bargaining unit shall be allowed to be absent from work to arrange for or to attend the funeral or any of the relatives of the employee hereinafter mentioned for the time hereinafter stated:
(a) If the deceased relative was the husband, wife, child, father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, or grandchild of the employee, the employee shall be permitted to be absent from work for a period not to exceed two (2) days. One of these days shall be the day of the funeral. If either or both of these days are scheduled working days, he shall be allowed pay for day(s) off during his regular working schedule.
(b) If the deceased relative was the father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law, grandmother-in-law or grandfather-in-law of the employee, the employee shall be permitted to be absent from work with pay for the purpose stated for one (1) scheduled working day if the funeral is held on a scheduled working day. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law will be interpreted as (i) the spouse of an employee's brother or sister; (ii) the brother or sister of an employee's spouse; or (iii) the spouse of an employee's spouse's brother or sister.
(c) If, to attend the funeral for a deceased relative, the employee travels to a point more than 100 miles from El Dorado, Arkansas, he shall be allowed such leave for an additional day with pay. The pay for each day's leave which the employee receives under the provisions of this Article shall be a sum equal to straight-time for his regular schedule of work on the day involved. There shall be no duplication of payment under provisions of this Article for any other employee benefits such as: vacation pay, holiday pay, or sickness benefits payments.
Funeral Leave. In case of the death of other relative or person of unusually close personal relationship, one day, or two half days, of absence shall be allowed during the individual’s service year without loss of pay for attendance at the funeral if the funeral is held within a 50-mile radius of Des Moines. If the funeral is being held outside the 50-mile radius of Des Moines, one day of absence shall be allowed. The Office of Human Resources shall have the authority to extend the above provisions for any other purpose directly arising out of said death, and no deduction of pay shall be made for the days of absence required.
Funeral Leave. Section 19.1 In the event of the death of the Employee's spouse, son, daughter, mother, father, sister or brother, the Employee will be granted a leave of absence with pay for two (2) consecutive twenty-four (24) hour shifts, or four (4) consecutive eight (8) hour shifts.
Section 19.2 In the event of the death of the Employee's father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, grandparents of the spouse, grandchildren, or other relatives living in the Employee's household at the time of death, the Employee will be granted a leave of absence with pay for one (1) twenty-four (24) hour shift, or two (2) consecutive eight (8) hour shifts. Such leave may be extended by one (1) additional twenty-four (24) hour shift or up to two (2) additional eight (8) hour shifts upon recommendation from the Division Head to the Fire Chief for approval. The Employee may request extension of funeral leave through his/her appropriate supervisor who shall carry said request to the Division Head specifying the reasons for such extension. The supervisor shall evaluate the request and base his/her decision on the specific circumstances of the case. All funeral leave granted shall be consecutive work shifts.
Section 19.3 In the event of the death of the Employee’s aunt or uncle, the Employee will be granted a leave of absence with pay for four (4) hours; this includes spouse’s aunt or uncle. When the aunt or uncle was the Employee’s legal guardian and had responsibility for raising the Employee or the Employee’s spouse, the Employee will be granted funeral leave in accordance with Section 19.1.
Section 19.4 The above relationships referenced in Sections 19.1, 19.2, and 19.3 shall include xxxxxx and step situations.
Section 19.5 Such absence shall not be charged to funeral leave unless the Employee attends the funeral of the deceased, which must fall within the period of funeral leave.
Section 19.6 An Employee who is eligible for funeral leave which falls within a period of annual leave or holiday leave shall not have such funeral leave time charged against annual leave or holiday leave.
Section 19.7 In the event of the death of a regular Fire Department Employee, the members of his/her company shall be given necessary time off with pay up to four (4) hours to attend the funeral of the deceased. Additional time off may be granted by the member's District and/or Assistant Chief.
