Layoff and Rehiring Procedure. a) Both parties recognize that job security shall increase in proportion to the length of service and ability; therefore, in the event of layoff, the employees shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority within the job classification in the department affected. A seasonal employee within a job classification in the department, will be laid off first, followed by regular part-time, or regular full-time employees in that job classification. b) Any regular full-time or part-time employee laid off may bump a junior employee within the same department, providing the employee exercising the seniority right has the required qualifications and ability to perform the work. (c) If none of the foregoing action is possible, and it is necessary to terminate the employee refusesemployment of the Employee, Article 14 it is agreed to provide the Employee with a separation settlement equal to three (3) months' pay after expiration of the recall period.
(d) For all Employees who are within five (5) years of normal retirement age and who have ten (10) or more years of continuous service with the Employer, and opt for early retirement, the Employer will attempt to work out a separation settlement that would be effective from mutually acceptable to the date Employee and the employee was recalled Employer. In discussing the early retirement arrangements, the Union is to workbe involved. Any settlement shall not be less than what is provided for in paragraph (c).

(a) A full-time employee may be recalled to a full or part-time position. If an employee is recalled to work, either from layoff status, or from a seasonal part-time position in another department, and the employee refuses, Article 14 will shall retain recall rights to a full-time position not to exceed twelve (12) months recall period.
(b) A part-time employee may only be effective from the date the employee was recalled to worka part-time position of the same or less hours than they were working at time of layoff.
(c) If no recall is available during the twelve (12) months period the employee(s) on the recall list shall, if they so indicate in writing prior to the end of the twelve (12) months period, may remain on the call list, maintain their seniority and accumulate seniority for hours worked as per article 13.01.
(d) Acceptance or refusal of casual assignments of work and acceptance or refusal of temporary work with the Employer shall not operate to increase the period of recall or interfere with the recall rights of the employee.
(e) This article only applies to full-time and part-time employees in permanent positions with regular hours of work and does not apply to employees who are only scheduled and/or called according to Article 20.03 (b).
(f) It is understood that the employer is not obligated to split a full- time position to accommodate laid off employees.
(d) An employee exercising seniority to claim another employee's job under this Article shall be provided with a period of up to two (2) working days to familiarize and orient himself to the job.
