Layoffs and Rehiring. In the event of a curtailment of operations or a layoff of a week or more, the Company will reschedule employees to accommodate the premise that the last person hired is the first person to be laid off, provided that employees exercising their seniority must be able to perform the work with a minimum amount of training and orientation (minimum training is defined as three (3) work days or less) and is paid the rate of the job. On an individual basis the Company and the Union can discuss a longer training period. It is recognized that certain jobs require lengthy training periods due to their complexity and/or required skills. If a lay-off or curtailment has the potential of exceeding three (3) months, the Company and Union will meet to work out a training schedule for affected employees. It is also recognized that maintenance/craft jobs require extensive training, and these jobs are exempt from this clause. When, due to curtailment or layoff, an employee has been placed on another job and an opening occurs on their signed up job because of someone being sick, on vacation, leave of absence, or any other reason for a week or more, the employee will exercise their rights and be returned to their original job. An employee assigned a lower rated job because of a decline in operations and/or a layoff shall be paid the rate of the job which they are assigned. When it becomes necessary to lay off employees according to the provisions of this Agreement, the Company shall post the layoff list at the same time it posts the weekly schedule, when reasonably possible, and allowing exceptions for emergencies. At the same time a copy of the layoff list shall be given to the Union. The Union shall likewise be given a list of all recalled employees as soon as possible. Each Tuesday the Company shall update a rolling notice showing the number of possible layoffs for the next four (4) weeks, subject to revisions until the final weekly layoff list is posted.
Layoffs and Rehiring. (a) Students that are classified as special needs students, as determined by current Ministry funding guidelines, shall have the right to Education Assistance.
(b) In the event that a EA position is eliminated, the employee shall be placed on a Layoff List, within that community, and offered a temporary EA position if available or a regular EA vacancy, as they arise, in accordance with the employee's qualifications, appropriateness, and seniority.
(c) Employees shall remain on the EA Layoff List until appointed to another regular position, or until they refuse one (1) EA position for which they are qualified, or until twelve (12) months pass.
Layoffs and Rehiring. 01 a) In the event of a layoff, employees shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority, provided those retained can fulfill the normal requirements of the available jobs as defined in the approved position description. Employees shall be recalled in the order of their seniority to the same part-time job classification from which they were laid off or to a part-time opportunity at or below the laid-off employee’s original job classification, provided the employee can meet the required qualifications with minimal training. In such cases, the requirement to post under Article 17, does not apply. New employees shall not be hired until those laid off have been given the opportunity of recall.
Layoffs and Rehiring. 13:01 The purpose of the layoff procedure is to create job vacancies for senior employees displaced from their jobs or Divisions as a result of a reduction in force.
(a) In reduction in force, employees shall be displaced from jobs in a Division in reverse order of such employees Division seniority and employees shall be displaced from pool jobs in reverse order of such employee's General seniority. Pool Jobs shall be those jobs in Job Class 1 only.
(b) In the event of a layoff it is understood that students performing the work of the Labourer classification identified in Appendix A, shall be terminated before a layoff of probationary employees, seasonal employees and permanent employees.
13:03 It is understood and agreed that in all cases of layoffs, reductions in work force and recalls after layoffs, that seniority shall apply provided that the employee has the ability to perform the work.
13:04 During any such period of layoff such employee is not entitled to any benefits except the right of recall to work.
13:05 Notice of layoff shall be given in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.

Layoffs and Rehiring. 10.01 Both parties recognize that job security should increase in proportion to length of service. Therefore, in the event of a layoff, employees shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority. Former employees shall be re-employed in the order of their seniority, providing they are qualified and have the ability to do the work.
10.02 No new employees will be hired until those laid off have been given an opportunity of re-employment.
10.03 This article applies on a departmental basis only and not on a bargaining-unit-wide basis.

Layoffs and Rehiring. Upon being laid off an employee shall have thirty (30) days in which to opt for recall rights or to resign. Upon resignation the employee shall be paid one week’s pay for each complete year of service up to a maximum of twenty (20) weeks’ pay. This option shall only be available to an employee who has been a regular employee for at least one year and who has exhausted their bumping rights. Except for Article this article shall not apply to the annual summer layoff of school term (nominal ten-month) employees.
Layoffs and Rehiring. When it becomes necessary to reduce the working force, the last employee hired shall be laid off first, and when the force is again increased, the employees are to be returned to work in the reverse order in which they were laid off. The Employer shall send a copy of the employee’s notice of layoff to the Union.
