Layoff Benefits. When an employee is laid off from continuous permanent service with the City, the employee may elect to receive an amount equal to his salary at the time of lay-off for one-half (1/2) the number of days for unused sick leave which the employee has accumulated, provided that the maximum payment shall not exceed an amount equal to wages for ninety (90) days.
