Leave and Absence Defined. a. Probationary and permanent employees shall be eligible for certain paid and unpaid leaves. A leave is an authorized absence from active service granted to probationary or permanent employees, for a specified purpose and period of time, with the right to return to active service, unless the employee’s service would otherwise have been terminated. Leaves are either “permissive” or “mandatory”.
