Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation. Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation. Where an employee qualifies for personal sick leave requiring hospitalization, or emergency leave due to serious illness of an immediate family member where travel is required, or bereavement leave during vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits of such absence. The period of vacation so displaced either shall be added to the vacation period or reinstated for use at a later date, based on operational requirements and mutual agreement. Employees are required to contact their supervisors as soon as possible when their status of leave changes.

Where an employee’s vacation is interrupted due to a death of a family member listed in Article 15.01 such period of bereavement leave shall not be considered vacation time off and such bereavement leave shall not be counted against an employee’s vacation credits

Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation. When an employee is in receipt of the Short-Term Illness and Injury Plan (STIIP) benefits or on leave with pay in accordance with Clauses 20.1 and 20.5 during his vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven days of returning to work.
