Leave Extensions. All requests for leave extensions will be applied for sixty (60) days prior to the termination date and acknowledged in writing. Those individuals on leave of absence must inform the Director of Human Resources in writing of their intent to return or request an extension in writing, if eligible, on or before April 1 of the school year during which the leave of absence is in effect. Copies of such extensions will be submitted to the Association.
Leave Extensions. A leave of absence may be extended at the discretion of the Employer, but such extensions will not be precedent setting. All leaves of absence will be unpaid unless otherwise required by law.
Leave Extensions. If a unit member desires to extend any leave under Section 8.5, he or she must make a written request to the Superintendent or designee at least one (1) month prior to the scheduled expiration of the leave. An extension for up to six (6) months may be granted.

Any sick leave accrual that occurred prior to the leave will be restored upon their return, provided that they return to the same or similar position.
