LEAVE OF ABSENCE - BEREAVEMENT. 11.09.01 When a death occurs in the immediate family of an employee, the employee shall be granted Bereavement Leave up to seven (7) days, at the employee's option, of which not more than three (3) will be with pay. Such leave will normally commence with the first day following the death or advice of death. 11.09.02 Immediate family is defined as: spouse (including common-law spouse), children of employee and spouse, parents of employee and spouse, grand-parents of employee and spouse, grand-children of employee and spouse, brothers and sisters of employee and spouse, and including other relatives residing with the employee. 11.09.03 In unusual circumstances where the deceased is not a member of the immediate family (e.g., guardian), Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave will be at the discretion of the Company. 11.09.04 Additional leave without pay up to a maximum of fifteen (15) days may be granted without reference to Article 7.08.
